Let's make it easy to see where Stinger buyers came from. I'm only going to list the mainstream luxury brands but if I miss one, please let me know...
How about one additional category "non-luxury sedan" which would cover the Honda's and Toyota's of the world? Just a thought...

Came from Lexus and the Stinger is a fine automobile!

This is going to be a great thread to watch over time. Thus far, 7 buyers have come from Luxury brands, 8 from non-luxury sedans.

Breaking it out further, how many of each category (luxury vs non-luxury) purchased GT's vs 2.0L's. I'm assuming the bulk of 2.0L vehicles will go to the non-luxury folks?...

It most likely leans that way. Maybe we'll create another poll in time...

I had a 2009 Infiniti G37 and traded it in for a 2013 Optima SX. I missed my G37 so traded the Optima for a Stinger GT2. The Stinger poops all over the G37 and that is a great car.

I went from a 2011 BMW 128i to a 2012 BMW 328i to a 2015 Mercedes C300 and so far my Stinger GT is the best car I have ever owned!!!! Just an FYI I almost got the Premium 2.0, as it was the same power as my previous cars, but I wanted something faster and more comfortable while being sporty. The C300 with sport suspension and the first year the model used runs flats, felt like the wheels were bolted to the frame it was so rough.

Coming from a BMW 3 GT. Looked at BMW again up to 6 series, also at Mercedes GLC Coupe, various Jaguars and Porsche Macan before deciding on the Stinger.

Congrats! Just got back with my tour of the entire Portland auto show. Not the biggest out there for sure, but pretty solid. Looking at this entry-level range, no offense but Acura, Buick, any "tweener" type brands, nothing stacks up. The high-ends with the Audi S5 Sportback, nice car, but it gave me some claustrophobia. The front seating area is just tight and constricted. Very, very low. I took out the hatchback cover after putting the back seats down. Wow, who designed that piece to take out for the rear deck? It was nearly impossible to take out, and even worse to try and snap back in. Crazy design...

With the Audi I just look at it and say "Is this $15k or so more of a car?" And I walk away saying no. The brand is big, but a lot of people like me can't justify a label. I want the the power and driving experience and the Stinger has it in spades.

Really, really hoping this is a truly disruptive car in this segment, and that the G70 also creates problems for the luxury market.

Oh, as for the BMW 4-series, seemed like pretty cramped quarters to me, and the entire BMW 3 and 4 series just seem so stale. I feel like I've been looking at their same dashboard design and layout for like 20 years now. The brand is easily recognizable on the road, BMW wants that, but it's just stale to me.

If you sat in a 6 series Coupe you would feel "at home" vs the Stinger .................. thats what the car feels like to me . (owned a 650 Cabriolet )

Is there more interior volume in the Stinger as opposed to the Audi S5 Sportback and BMW 440i Gran Sport? I've never seen anyone say there's more room in the Stinger...
yes and yes , plus same as the Panamera ........................

I did, but the 6 series Grand Coupe starts at $81,400! Basically, when reviews talk about it difficult to find a niche or vehicles that directly compete with the Stinger for the same price range, it becomes much more difficult.

I completely agree with you on the Audi. The A5 Sportback is certainly a beautiful car, but it truly feels cramped and tight as my daily driver that involves my kids still in booster seats. I also am not a fan of frameless doors and the power windows to lower and raise 1” whenever you open up a car door. That seems finicky and another thing to fail over time. I think I would regret getting something that feels smaller than my Optima.

As for the frameless doors, don't worry, I owned a Ford Probe which had them also. They'll just get loser and loser and the motors will eventual fail (or something not good). Just another thing to go wrong, and there is NO need for frameless windows - none. Makers claim aero dynamics, etc... but it's bogus and it's not a good design.

Was considering a 540i M sport however after a long test drive of 2 hours on the Stinger I walked out astonish on the dynamics of the car considering it not exactly being compact!

My personal findings:
Build Quality: Well build(rattle and squeak free) reasonably insulated, low wind and road noise, being functional with what being offered and the driving position is almost almost spot on take note I am in a right hand drive country and I believe the main market or focus of this car is for left hand drive. Not luxurious by any stretch and its not trying thats what I like!

Technology: Can be improve and probably 1 generation behind the pack however what is required for being a daily driver and an enthusiasts car its suffice and do excel in certain areas. Importantly the shortcoming does not distract the driving experience. The current generation of cars are impressive however the level of customisation and info is overwhelming which at times do distract the driving experience being an enthusiast car. Its probably more a showcase to passengers and other makers and taking note at the expense of our ownership costs.

Driving: The magical part which I notice during the test drive was that the size of the vehicle "shrunk" "mentally" and at no time I felt it was like a barge or anything pointing towards the physique of the car. That says alot and some of the roads I drove was a dual carriageway with few feet to spare from the edge of the drains while overtaking slower vehicles probably due to the efficiency amd execution of the drivetrain, steering feedback and chassis dynamics. Its not about the the absolute numbers but the feel and confidence which this vehicle inspires. If higher entry speeds are carried in the bends 1st thing last minute throttle lift off do unsettle the tail however can be corrected easily with some minor steering and throttle input. I do have a strong crunch it was deliberate as it gives you a sense of playfulness in the chassis. Personally I do like this! Power is as expected but the transmission being fully develop in house by Hyundai/ Kia is surprisingly smooth and decisive! Only gripe is the lack of full manual as the pedal shift do revert to auto if I recall 10 seconds or so. Next the engine note or speaker generated downshift in manual should be made more audible as I do realise its not really prominent when downshifting is induce. Which is a bit of guesswork unless I am looking down at the instrument panel.

Design: IMHO it is probably one of my personal favourite being it a GT car, sedan as of current crop of cars. I find the design being athelethic, elegant, and almost perfectly executed and balance from all angles...despite design improvement can be done on the tail lamps!

The total ownership costs to fun factor, warranty and the reliability index of Kia sealed the deal!
