Kia Has No Plans to Kill the Stinger.

Talked to my salesman yesterday because of all the stuff I read on here about orders not takin or being fulfilled and he guaranteed me 100% my order will be built and delivered. I ordered Feb.5th . That being said I found a 2022 ceramic silver scorpion in Idaho for MSRP. No markup $55,887. Almost pulled the trigger on it but after talking to my dealer I backed out. Mind you I didn’t tell my dealer about it so there was no influence on his part to reassure me about my order. If anyones looking Nampa Idaho is where it is. I’m sure won’t be there long. Hope I don’t end up regretting passing it up lol. Oh well gotta have a little faith and a whole lot of patience. You people who already have stingers, lucky bastards I can’t wait to have mine!!! Udin udin udin I hope no one is offended by that last statement it’s not meant to be. Just my sense of humor. Stupid one has to even explain that these days. Oh well.. good luck fellow stinger seekers!
I found a white Stinger GT2 AWD Red interior for MSRP at Fort Collins Kia (CO). It's a 12 hour drive for me and I am honestly not willing to do that after consideration. I learned that I will stay patient and stick to my order. I'll just save up more money for a larger down payment as well as getting the Ceramic Silver that I want. Also, we may get the 2023 meaning something will be updated. Win win if you ask me.

I almost bought that car from them but found one in WI which was closer. Great dealership though and willing to ship it across the country

I just bought my second GT2 AWD and had to drive 3 hours to Wisconsin to get it. There aren't many left here in MN and the ones that they have are GT1's with 4 cylinder engines. Most dealers here have 1 or 2 more coming in 2022 but only one said they could order one in. I went for the one out of state before I went down that road since it was the color and options I wanted. Seems short sighted to retire this car. I feel they really dropped the ball on their marketing. Also the dealers I met did not seem to feel comfortable dealing in the "Luxury" GT market for some reason. I looked at BMW, Audi, TLX Accord... some come close but for way more money and fewer options. I looked at the BMW 440i Grande Coupe which was closer in price and configuration but the front end is butt ugly and the car is just smaller all the way around and not not nearly as nicely optioned. I guess I will drive the wheels off this 2022 and hope by then something better hits the market.

The whole idea is the complete BS green new deal being rammed down our throats to force us into EVs. Gas prices were surging long before this Ukraine business. The policies are designed to push gas prices higher. They don't care that the AVERAGE price of an EV is 56K and most folks can't afford that. They also won't talk about how the vast majority of electricity is generated with fossil fuel. Maybe at some point it will make more sense but right now it's just another hardship and disadvantage being placed on Americans. China is putting a new coal fired plant online roughly every two weeks.

I was just in exactly the same boat. Looked at BMW 440i GC, Audi S5 Sportback and Genesis G70 and could not find the options I wanted with this engine and this value. The Genesis was actually the best value but way too small in the back seat/trunk. I was shocked at how expensive the German cars got once you start selecting options (oh, you want keys? That'll be $1000 extra. Windows too? That'll bump you up into this premium package that costs $10,000).

I live in NC and found a GT2 AWD Scorpion in WI and paid to have it shipped. Just took delivery today. It's dirty but I freaking LOVE driving this car. Can't wait to get it all cleaned up. There is no real competitor to this car and it would be a damn shame if they kill it off.

And China has some of the worst pollution in Earth in some cities, where people need to wear masks to protect themselves from all the shit in the air. We really don't need to be modelling ourselves after China.

If anything, the surging gas prices show that we've needed to transition to EVs for a long time. We're too dependent on other countries for fossil fuels. Isn't that the goal? To make America energy independent?

We have a lot of renewables in place. The issue with renewables currently is that they are not consistent. Wind and solar both have peak production times. If we had a better way of storing energy, we can be happy with full renewables. And the Currently, lithium is a very dirty resource to mine. This coupled with the supply not going to be able to meet future lithium demand is going to be a nightmare. I would have switched to electric, but the infrastructure and cost is not where it should be for competitiveness.

EV will do absolutely zero for the environment . Just a different way of trashing this rock we live on. Just my opinion and I’m old school so… long live the gassers!! Hahaha

Nuclear powered cars... there's the ticket.

Absolutely. Energy independent.
At this point in time, however, only a small fraction of our energy is produced via renewable sources. We need to continue to develope that but it will take time... not 5 years or 10 years either...longer than that to be sure. Meanwhile, and for the foreseeable future China and India and most other countries are going to continue to pollute the crap out of everything.
If you have an EV now then great if that's what you want but don't be fooled into thinking the electricity you charge it with isn't generated with fossil fuel. It is, for the most part. So, at this point in time driving an EV just isn't that green and what happens with the thousands and thousands of tons of environmentally unfriendly batteries all these vehicles are using? How about all the oil used in the manufacture of the plastics and vinyls, the fossil fuels the giant manufacturing plants use to produce the EV, the fossil fuels used to mine the earth to come up with the steel and every other mineral based product used in the car?
Here's the thing, I'm not against renewable energy or any version if cleaner air and water. My point is that, for now at least, all of this is still using mostly carbon producing non-renewable energy. We just aren't there yet. And with that the final question is, since we have way more than enough energy available to us domestically if we choose to use it, why on earth are we buying oil from Russia, OPEC, apparently Venezuela, and now potentially Iran as well? Buying from somewhere else doesn't reduce the amount we burn!

I had no idea that when I bought mine in Feb '21, less than a year later these would be so constrained. Good luck to those of you who are still looking!

If we'd stop dropping leases and ditching the Keystone pipeline, we wouldn't be so dependant on other countries. It was mentioned above, but I just don't see how we can expect to transition the majority of our country into EV's. How is a person working at McDonalds or WalMart expected to be able to afford an EV? With regular cars, even as insane as the used car market currently is- you can still find something within your budget or means to purchase. The same can't be said about EV's.

It would take a lot more coal to swiftly meet the need of overnight charging of EVs.

But EVs are just a stop gap. Hydrogen power is the buzz. There is going to be a Le Mans hydrogen-powered entry in 2024; that will possibly translate to F-1 development. Hydrogen makes so much more sense than trying to beef up the electric grid to charge millions and millions of batteries every night.

GT1 doesn't have the 4 cylinder. Unless you meant the gt-line.

And where are we going to get that much hydrogen? It does not exist in free form in the atmosphere. Most hydrogen today is produced by processing fossil fuels.
So, what's the point?

I'm seeing articles in the media that say that fast charging stations are charging so much that they're more expensive than gassing up a car. Another way the progressive left is screwing car owners. Don

That's now. Electrolysis of water produces zero CO2 emissions: as I understand it, that is the technology being pursued for racing innovation.

And there's the rub. Electrolysis requires...
Electricity, right back to the power grid issue. If we begin to solidly embrace nuclear energy (there are far safer technologies out there now), we could have all the electricity we want without burning fossil fuels.
Sure, there is solar and other renewable sources, but then we start talking about cover millions of square miles with solar panels, or wind turbines, or dams....
Can't get something for nothing, there are physical laws in place.

Environmentalists are slowly but surely getting dams removed because of migrations of certain fish, removing or stopping installations of wind turbines because birds hit them and die, and solar would likely be challenged in certain instances because of similar circumstances.
I completely agree with the expansion of nuclear power. It's the one and only way, with current technology, to generate mega-watt power with minimal waste. It doesn't seem to matter what infrastructure the powers that be try to build over the last 30 years or so... it's law suit after lawsuit after lawsuit from environmental groups that make it next to impossible, although the same people love to turn on the lights, heat their homes, and drive their Suburus.
