Kia Has No Plans For A Stinger Coupe

"There is nothing in the plan right now for that. The Stinger GT sedan is the big focus in terms of really strong performance,” he said. "It’s our halo vehicle. It was the right time to bring it two years ago and it’s doing really well. It also has this great brand-building effect for us.”

I had no plan to buy one either. I love the hatch :D

I need 4 doors but if they were looking to go after the Supra (#1 production model just sold for 2.1 million), 370z market, winner winner chicken dinner.

Seems like Kia is going to make jump directly into electric or hybrid soon. Who could blame them as market leaders are all going there now so wouldn’t make much sense to launch a old tech gas coupe as much as I’d like to see one. And I don’t think Stinger is going to be halo car much longer as all Kia competitors are going to have new wave of EVs attracting people to their showrooms.

Appears Kia and Hyundai putting a lot of money into new generation EV cars they are releasing 2020 model year. The new Soul EV may turn into the car that attracts people into showrooms. Looks like a pretty cool vehicle.

I do suspect Kia will be announcing a more premium EV or hybrid soon.

I traded in a 2013 Hyundai Genesis Coupe, 3.8 R-Spec for my Stinger. That car was the closest thing in the Hyundai/Kia family to a 2-door sports car like the Supra or 370Z. And then they discontinued it. So there's definitely a void in their line-up.

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...
If a coupe with a 3.3TT comes along I think it would likely have a Genesis badge on it. Something to compete with the RC and Q60 and more of a 2-door GT than a flat-out sports car.

All what I care is to Kia and Hyundai to keep making sporty and sports sedans and not SUV after SUV, I will keep buying and leasing Kia and Hyndai Sports Sedans for the remaining of my life and I am 41 only. :D

Coupe sales are falling even quicker than sedan sales (look at sales of the FR-S and BRZ), so doesn't make much sense.

Genesis has 2 dedicated BEV platforms in development, so would not be surprised if Kia ends up w/ at least 1 upmarket BEV.

Maybe this being a precursor of what's to come?

Genesis has an entry-level 2-door in development (may simply be a 2-door version of the G70 or may get more distinctive sheetmetal) and if the Essentia gets greenlit, would make for a halo coupe.
