Kia going to pay to repaint Sunset Yellow Stingers

I doubt that'll happen. If they want to respray mine I'm fine with that. I'll drive around a Forte or some lesser loaner for a week or two. Hopefully not more than that though?
A complete respray will take months from what i've heard.

They should offer Stinger loaners if you’re going to not have your car that long. On another note, I always wonder why KIA dealerships doesn’t add those slow selling cars (Cadenza, K900 and Stinger) to their loaner fleet. I would think it makes for a good way to get it into people hands and let them take it home and get friends nd family to see them to generate interest to bring in more customers. BMW would give me X5 and convertible 3 series, Volvo gave me XC60 and V60. At least they could give Stinger owners Cadenzas or Sorentos.

Uhh, if it's months I'm gonna have to insist on at least a 2.0 Stinger loaner.

and whom did you hear that from? Months to respray a car when there are only a few hundred at most that have been sold (yellow) in the US? I would like to know your source?

interesting, mike over at the preferred owners group says that this is what will happen if, and he stressed the word if, enough people have the problem, and it is documented.
Mr. Submarine. Yeah Baby! Me and Scottie Pippens favorite.
Oh yep I gots a yellow one.
But Mr. Submarine

Wrong info

i have been quoted on amount of time needed for respray is as follows, if it is done in-house or shopped to qualified outside shop. it is being done by hand. sanded, primed, painted and cleared. all by hand. you want an earl shieb paint job? he used to say he would paint any car, any time, for $99 in new york. and he did. until the paint can off in sheets about a month later. and you couldn't do anything about it because it was in his contract that you signed. so, if they want to keep my yellow stinger for 2 months to paint it correctly, and give me a loaner for that time, sure, no probs. just fix my car.

i just realized that i didn't even answer the question....i really have to cut my hair, i seem to keep tying back my ponytail tighter and tighter and it's cutting off the blood supply to my brain.
time quoted is between 3 - 12 weeks. that is 3 months for us math challenged people.
loaner cars will be provided
so, to recap, yellow owners will have 3 choices:
1-respray on all metal parts of the car. not the nose or the rear (for the time being) you get a loaner and a warranty on paint. 2 coats primer, 2 coats paint, 2 coats clear.
2- they buyback your car, you wake up in your bed and never realize that alice is still sitting in the passenger seat of your ex-yellow stinger.
3-you trade in your yellow stinger for a comparably equipped stinger in any other color except for yellow. they will take into account any mods you have done to the car. doesn't mean they will pay for them, but they will take into account that you have done tints, etc etc etc.
now, if any of this that i have posted turns out to be wrong, i apologize, but this is the info that was given to me when i called and spoke to one of the vip's reps. and, it isn't like my name is chef kia, otherwise, we would all have quad turbo gt-r stingers roaring up and down the roads, eating lesser cars for snacks.

I would check with your auto insurance company as to your policy as if you turn your car over to a paint shop/dealer for the repaint Upwards to three months of having your car somewhere you might not know, a fire, theft, damage, etc of your auto can happen and it would not be surprising. We are getting technical here but the number of bad things that have happened to autos that have been taken to "shops" for repair and insurance disputes that arise are numerous. A possible three months of having your car gone for a repaint is totally unacceptable in my opinion. Is KIA going to give you another Stinger to drive during those three months and no matter what car they lone you what are you responsible for if something happens to that loner.....just possible issues that can cause you to get a lawyer.

i am sure that kia will spell out any and all problem areas in their loaner to you. as for how long it takes to repaint a car, have you had a car stripped and repainted? it isn't a one day job. especially when they need to strip it done to bare metal and start over by hand. it isn't automated like they do at the factory, which is on a conveyor, and that is how the problem started in the first place. you also have to factor in how busy they are with other jobs. hell, it takes them 2 days to do an oil change sometimes. an oil change? as for contacting your insurance company, that is a smart idea, never thought of that. good call fred.

I would suggest, if possible, that the car given as a loner be the alike car that you are having painted, in the color you would want, if you find your repaint not acceptable. Probably not happening, but if you accept a new car (after the repaint is not good) the one you are using as a loner could be the one you swap for. You get to check the new one out for your personal likes with the color and car.

Was just proactively contacted by Kia in the US about my sunset yellow GT. Missed the call but plan to call them back tomorrow. I definitely want to keep it but hate the idea of going months without it.

What about the offer of trading it for another yellow, maybe a 2019 version. Who says it has to be done now and have you wait for months, I would ask that question unless they are no longer going to offer that color. In that case, if you really love that color, I would request another Stinger while awaiting mine or a Cadenza, something comparable in price and options.

I have my doubts that Kia will include yellow in the 2019 line -- it would just remind people of the problems the 2018 caused

I want a yellow stinger but I don't think I will wait three months for a repaint. Sure, KIA could paint some stingers yellow for 2019 and I would take that offer. It is in KIA's corner, but as of today, I am not happy thinking about driving another color. But given the choice, I will probably take a buy back if you ask me today and make a deal on the deeper dark blue if it comes out for 2019. If not, it was a nice four months having my yellow.

I got the call too and am waiting for the letter ... curious what they are going to give us money wise for the trouble... didn’t tell me over the phone but seeing as the yellow stinger has a few more options than a standard gt I’m wondering what they will do for us .. if they give me a gt1 I’m going to trade it right away but we will see what they say

What “few more options” are you referencing?

Maybe I’m wrong but does bass gt have heated steering wheel ? There is something else too but can’t remember

I believe you may be mistaken. As I understand it, the AWD Sunset Yellow is no different, save for an additional badge.

I'm not sure it has any special features beyond the color and badge, but my AWD does have a heated steering wheel. There are also under seat subwoofers, which I wasn't expecting.
