It's winter and its cold outside. I flash up the app ...oh boy ... I'm going out to a warm car. No f.... go. "Your car has not been started for a few days so we cannot proceed". WTF!
My wife hits a button on her cheapo cars fob and it starts every fricking time but my 50K kia won't.

Mine sits for days and starts up with the app without issue...all your software and firmware up to date?

Low battery? (On the car)

I leave a maintainer on the battery. I didn't do November's update for the car. Uvo is the latest.

Odd, I'd call support, mine hasn't moved since Thursday, and fired right up this afternoon

Try taking the maintainer off before using the app. I leave a maintainer on mine for weeks at a time and when I start the car I’ve noticed that some of the settings have changed…especially the seat position.

That is weird. I haven't noticed any setting changes. My charger is on a timer and runs overnight. It's unhooked before starting.
I'm still dealing with Novembers nav update. Will see if that makes any difference.

I just thought of something. My clock is an hour behind. I bet that's whats screwing up Uvo. I'll deal with that and the update in the morning. Surprised the time never synced on its own.

This is a stupid "feature" of the Kia Connect service.

It has always been this way.

I believe our cars are "96" hours, I was unable to locate anything in the "manual" as the kia Connect website says. Basically, if you do not drive your car every 4 days, your remote start feature no work. But you can lock and unlock your doors remotely even if you haven't started your car lately - thanks Kia!

I too, have suffered from this very very annoying message when getting ready to go to work after several days of working from home

Are you sure?
How many days? More than 96 hours?

It's not a low battery on the car, It's an official item on the precondition list.

Maybe ours is 168 hours (1 full week).

I was unable to find the number of hours in my manual. But it's between 96 and 168. Based on your Thursday to Wednesday, I guess it's 168 hours - that the engine must have been started within - for the remote starter to work.

The November update for the car doesn't change the 96 to 168 hour requirement for the remote starter to work.

The November update does add the Valet feature to the Kia Connect system

This precondition has been bothering me since 2018... It has always been present and is still present. The Nov update does not modify the preconditions for remote starting - unfortunately.

It's a really stupid "feature".

I wonder after so many hours the computer shuts down to conserve battery power as it would be a drain on the battery after that many hours of not being run.. The cheaper remote start options still works since that would just use normal radio signals vs needing to power the cellular modem...

probably the same reason lexus does the same? I remember trying to figure out why my coworkers lexus remote start didn't work after she came back from a vacation.

I am pretty sure (not 100% sure) - that at the time when my car wouldn't start due to not being recently started - I was still able to unlock my doors VIA the app. Which tells me the cellular connection is still alive and communicating - but the remote start function specifically was disabled.

I a going from memory - so I may be wrong on this. I will test this next time I do not drive for a week - which may be in the distant future.

Perhaps someone who experiences the remote start not meeting the pre-conditions can test if they can lock/unlock VIA the app on a day where the remote start is disabled due to a timeout
