Kia Connect (FKA UVO) Subscription

kia access/connect is way too expensive imo. i have to have the remote features, so i took it in the a$$. you might as well get the highest tier. i hate the tiers, and 3 levels of stingers. if you want your hatch to auto open, you have to spend what another 5-10gs to get a gt2... feels like a carrot waved in front of my face. kia access/connect navigation is poor for what we pay.

#$@# let's hope so. I also noticed you need the mid tier to use heated/ventilated seats and heated steering wheel.

I don't have an issue with them charging for remote/app functionality. But charging for in-car functionality is a douche canoe move.

Might as well charge for using reverse. "Want to move in any direction other than forward? Pay our made-up fee!"

^^Those older cars without the spyware will be worth more!

If this technology results in enough fatalities, it may be reconsidered.

Even now, with the keyless ignition, lets say you leave the fob at home. Once running, car will continue running until shut off, but will not restart.

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...

They don't charge for any in car functionality...

All in car functionality works, in car.

How is this possible when seat heating/ventilation is not tied to remote functionality in the stinger.

Tough to interpret it any other way.

Your seat heater/ventilation and heated steering wheel, surround view, etc all still work whether or not you have a subscription. All functions of the car, while you're in the car and running the car continue to work. The subscription gives you the CONVENIENCE of being able to set those functions or use those functions while you're not in the car, remotely as a remote start feature from the phone app or website.

It's a bit confusing given I cannot turn on the seats remotely right now, and I'm still on my free trial period of kia connect.

Can anyone in Canada confirm what happens?

Hmmm ok well that is certainly strange. We only get a 1 year free trial but during my entire free trial I never had issues setting the remote start climate control and adding my seat heaters.

I had 5 years free trial on a 2018.

Here is what my remote options look like.

man you need an app update LOL just kidding, just saying my app looks totally different!
Different model years have different features.
The 2018 model is not capable of setting the heated of ventilated seats via Kia connect when remote starting

I do not think that is what they are selling.

I believe the top teir of Kia Connect gives you the ability to take snapshots of the SVM (Surround View Monitor) remotely on your phone.

I do not think they disable the camera system for the driver in the car.
Correct

In my app for a '23 GT2, I have a climate settings button.

Inside there I can set it to different temperatures, and I have full control over the seat heat or ventilation for both front seats independently. I can also control the heat settings on both rear seats.

I also have scheduled remote start events which I can set the climate and seats up how I like. This works out nice as I leave work the same time every day.

If you don't pay for, or use, Kia Connect. You won't lose any of the built in equipment. You only lose app and data use items (weather, sending gps destinations to the car, etc..).

At least it isn't as bad as some of the other manufacturers, like Toyota. My girlfriend's remote does not have a remote start button, she would have to pay for the Toyota subscription service in order to use her remote start. IMO, that's crap. Disabling a feature of the car by forcing a subscription.

I am exactly in the same situation. I can only remote start via the app (Canada).

That sucks. You don't have a dedicated start button on your remote?
Correct, no start button or sequence of buttons on the Canadian model (mine is 2018). Only remote start through app
