Kia Australia Bi Modal Exhaust SOUND

I contacted the member that have the MY20 model and I was given some useful info to clarify all this. Thank you Jay321!!

He informed me that he used the dark green 30 amp fuse instead of the 20 and everything works as normal with the valves permanently open and rear camera working.

This is also comfirmed by the fuse diagram behind the cover:

He also said that the fuse was hard to pull out from the black holder on the fuse tap and suggested that I insert another 30 amp fuse and to get one from the shops which is a great idea!

FYI, there is a spare 30 amp fuse on the front fuse box under the bonnet if you check out the diagram behind the cover.

Hope this info helps out MY20 owners with bimodal exhaust who are curious.

Ok so I pulled the fuse tap when engine is on and tried to pull out the light green fuse out of the black holder but it would not budge. I even tried to use a fuse puller that is on the front fusebox under the bonnet.

I put the car in reverse and sure enough, the camera doesnt show on the screen as reported by another member with the same MY20 model.

I put the fuse tap in twice with the engine still on and could hear the valves closing then opening again. Is this safe to do? Should I have turned the car off first?

I did not want to break anything after that nightmare day yesterday at the dealer so I decided to let it be for now. I just tested the reverse camera and all cameras seems to be working too. I will test other functions and report here is anything is non functioning.

Has anyone with Aussie MY20 models with bi modal done this? I think NIght Sky editions bi modal exhaust are set up the same way.
Why do this anyway?? I have the bimodal and am fine with the sound as it is.

My bi modal exhaust was faulity and the valve stay open and doesnt close, even in comfort mode. The repair paperwork acually stated "found exhaust valve to be missing". So I was driving this whole time with the valve open.

I have to say that it was a different driving experience, the car feels more beasty with that exhaust note when driving normally in comfort mode. And heads turning way more often.

The car now feels much more tame in comfort mode, I just want to hear that exhaust note without driving like a hoon in Sports mode.

My drivetrain is always in Sport mode with the suspension in comfort via the custom setting. So my exhaust note never changes. I actually thought the exhaust only toned down in Eco mode anyway but I could be wrong.

Yeah my custom is setup the same way. I am always tempted to floor this thing to unleash the beast!!

Exhaust note depends on RPM.

Eco mode the valves stay closed at all times despite RPM, so it will be quieter

I just notice in comfort mode, the engine is very docile and unresponsive so I keep it in sport mode all the time. This is why we bought the V6 after all isn't it, to unleash the beast whenever possible.

I dont think anyone here would drive it in ECO unless you want to save fuel cause you cant get to a servo.

Hi ShannonC,

**Newby question alert**

Is this chart from a manual or some guide on how to adjust the settings ?

The reason I'm asking is because I would like to change my Bi-Modal settings to have the valve closed at start-up ( since I'm a shift worker ) and then it can go back to whatever it wants once in gear / mode.

ATM, I'm using makeshift plugs for the outer pipes on start up and pulling them out when I get down the road a bit
Not great when it's raining.....

Hi Aus, the chart is part of the installation instructions and I'm not aware of any way to change the valve settings. The best you could probably achieve would be to put the drive mode to eco before you shut the engine off. In that way it would re-start in eco and a quick transmission shift to drive should close the valve.

Now you are the kind of neighbor I’d love to have. Above and beyond my friend

Tried that but in start up mode the valves are open and only close in eco mode when put the trans into gear.
So, it looks like I'll stick with my current "quiet start" method until I can find someone to re-program the bi-modal module :(

Thanks for the reply though.
