So everyone calls the Stinger the K8 why and is this right. I know it's supposed to be the vehicle chassis name or something like that I Korea or am I wrong. Same as Honda hatchbacks where called by eg ek ef. Reason I'm wondering is if you search for kia K8 it shows the Cardenza. Is K8 maybe wrong for the Stinger?

So nobody really

It's the naming convention for their models in other markets. The Cadenza was a K7. K900 was K9. Optima is K5. Forte is K3. Rio is K2.

When the Stinger was first released people incorrectly assumed it would receive the K8 model designation. The K8 is actually the K7's replacement.

So then the K8 is actually wrong for the Stinger is what I'm understanding is that right. And if so then what would be the correct designation?

I've only ever seen it referred to as the Stinger. I'm not sure it got another designation.

Not even in Korea?
Apparently in Korean it's 기아 스팅어, which means Kia Stinger. Many of my neighbors are Korean and they also know it as the Kia Stinger. So I'm guessing it was always known as a Stinger. Also it seems many of the youtube videos / etc out of Korea call it the Stinger.

Case closed! :thumbup::thumbup:

Fascinating. Who was responsible for assuming that the Stinger would be the "K8" in S. Korea? I still want @Daniel @ K8 Stinger Store to weigh in on this: why did they name their business that?

As far as I'm aware they just call it "Stinger."
