Has anyone kept th stock air box and bought the K&N drop in filters? Notice and difference to sound or throttle response? Had them in previous cars didn't know how it would go in this one. I know I need a CAI to really notice a difference but with the car being brand new keeping the warranty in place is most important for me. Thanks!

I have them and they provide noticeable power in higher RPMs. CAIs are an ever-lasting debate which I don't submit to. Drop-ins are my preference as I do not like to heavily mod or change things while I have a warranty intact. Can't beat it for $100.
CAI by any stretch should not affect your warranty. There is minimal cutting of the shroud with the snorkels from what i gather from looking in to them. (I have not done it yet but on my to do list) You will hear those turbos very clear with some of the intakes offered, some more than others. YouTube sound clips to get an idea. Im running the K&N typhoon and its very obvious. It will cath you off gaurd if you never seach for a sound clip. Exhaust changes wont affect anything either as long as you leave the cats. Just stuff ive found. I know my dealer has no issues with my CAI at all no question and exhaust was the same scenario. Best bet for your piece of mind is do your own research and arm yourself with everything you can in case you are ever questioned. There are tons of posts here about warranty concerns that might help too
I put in the K&N drop in as one of my first mods. Didn't really have the car long enough before doing it to notice a change, but I do have the JA snorkel scoops ready to put on, just waiting for better weather to drop the bumper cover.
I haven't noticed much performance gains with the K&N. Unsure if it's the result of the car's breakin, but the MPGs have gone up about 1MPG since around the time the K&N were installed. I mostly bought them to maximize air intake efficiency for the hot summers and longevity (being able to clean them/reuse).
Someone posted a comparison of stock box v CAI and the stock box with performance filter was comparable. The CAI will move a bit more air but the air it's moving isn't as cool, which offsets the benefits of the CAI from what I recall.
Another option to the K&N drop in filters are the AEM dry drop in filters. They cost about the same price but no oil is required on the filter. The AEM filters are also washable like the K&N. I'm going to get the AEM and try them out.
I have the AEM drop in filters in the stock air box right now. However, I had the K&N filters before these. The AEM ones are cheaper, dry, and improved my 1/4 mile times over the K&N filters.
You won’t hear any sound difference with the stock air box and some people see that as a benefit.
Performance gains will be negligible unless you install aftermarket snorkels. The factory snorkel is choking the intake. The aftermarket snorkels unlock the car’s true potential.
I went from running 12.96 @ 108 mph to 12.62 @ 111 mph just with the drop in filters and the aftermarket snorkels. Honestly, I believe this setup might be better than any of the open air solutions for performance. The ram air affect is real and it really makes a significant difference.
I’ve just about convinced myself to skip on the Injen intakes and do the AEM drop in filters with snorkels instead. But I’d kind of like to have that noise from up front. Any suggestions to get that or is just not a thing with this setup?

That’s fair, but I would add that the common wisdom around here is that a CAI won’t cause any denied warranty claims—there are plenty of dealers who’ve even installed CAIs on folks’ Stingers.
For me, it’s less about that than spending the $300 difference on some other upgrade.

This intrigues me. Not being rude but will come off as such, that is not a very good 60 ft time.
To better this convo, the 12.4 sec time you posted shows that the Stinger picks up tremendously once power is laid to the ground, albeit a 1.4 degree slope. I would say this is more than accurate on the roads we drive everyday. On a strip, might be a 12.5-.6. If the power was laid down how it should've been, you could have a sub 2 sec 60 ft and a low 12 sec car, maybe even trap 117mph.
My quickest 60ft time is 2.02 and that was in 35 degree F weather. Prepped surface and I expect much lower. Good time stamp!
If you think your warranty would be denied for a CAI, then it would be voided for any aftermarket part you install. They have to prove what you installed caused the issue.
