K&N air filter...yes or no? Any difference?

SKIP TO 13:34, these K&N filters suck at filtering. No good for engine longevity.

8:50 shows improved 0-60 times.

I'm gonna keep mine for track days and get a set of disposable WIX filters for day to day driving.

Another youtuber at 16:04 shows having K&N filters is like having no filter at all

Another youtuber at 16:04 shows having K&N filtes is akin to having no filter at all
The main reason I got aem drop filters was because I could wash and reuse them. Now I am wondering if I should just go back to stock filters. They are showing aem being much better than k&n, but still....

That’s f*cking disheartening. Like many others, I trust the PF guy.
That acknowledged, like many others I have used K&N for many years in my vehicles with no evident deleterious effects:
- 2002 (the original) WRX. No engine issues just traded in after 2 transmission failures.
-2005 LGT wagon (the upgrade) from new until 248 k miles where it was tuned stage 2 from 100 k to when I sold it due to issues not related to the engine, just entropy in other areas…
-2006 LGT spec b (#410) I got used w/the K&N CAI, in 2010, then tuned to stage 2 and then stage 3 with a BNR 18g turbo and supporting mods. At 82000 mi, still runs great and is my DD to this day. No oil consumption.

As noted above, I recently got the Filter Wears covers for the Stinger and spec b. They seem to be a good, cheap addition to keep the actual filters cleaner longer. Maybe there’s more caveats, details, and nuances (e.g., evidence of engine damage) to be considered…

Thanks for your research and post.
