K&N 2.0T Intake available now

Nice! I have their drop in filter currently. My only worry with this one is that it will be too loud. Please keep us posted! :)

I was about to try the drop in filter myself, but this came out just in time to try. I'll keep you posted on how it sounds, might even record a video.

Got the K&N intake and installed it myself a couple days ago. I had a couple issues with installation. They sent the wrong bracket, should be an "L" shaped bracket but they sent a "Z" shaped bracket. It made the whole system sit a little low so one of the hoses barely reached and is only attached about halfway. I requested the correct bracket and hopefully they'll send it so I can try to correct the issues.

I copied other forum members and got some real heat shielding materials and covered the black K&N heat shield and I can verify it really helps keep the whole thing way cooler than the rest of the engine. It's not completely enclosed so hot engine bay air can still get in but it helps.

As far as review goes, this thing is loud. Louder than I expected and at much lower RPM's than I expected. I guess since we have the twin scroll turbo on our 2.0's the turbo kicks in at very low RPMs, so that means really loud whoosh sounds even below 2000 RPMs and even at modest throttle input. I was expecting it to get loud under a lot of boost in Mid to High RPM, but it makes noises all the time. It makes a noise with basically any throttle input at any RPM. I have a RaceChip so with the added boost it's good bit louder. With the RaceChip off it's not quite as loud. Initially I was ready to take this off and put the stock intake back on, but after driving a couple days what ever is left of my immature teenager self (I'm 45) finds it somewhat entertaining. Thank goodness it's not a constant drone like an aftermarket exhaust. I'm still on the fence on if I'll keep it or not.

I got the wrong bracket as well (replacement was sent by K&N, will receive tomorrow) which led to the short hose issue too. :(

Still waiting on my replacement bracket. They responded to my email basically telling me they get too much email so it's better to call. I called so they are supposedly they are sending out a new bracket, but still waiting.

Finally got the correct bracket and it makes a BIG difference!

I guess with the wrong bracket that came in the kit the whole thing sat way too low so it sucked in a lot of air from the engine, and that must have amplified the noise. Installed correctly it's sealed from the engine much better, so it's much more quiet now. I don't get the industrial powered shop vac sucking noise all the time now. It's only a quick woosh and pop at boost, which does sound pretty good.

Hoses all reach and attach correctly now. But I gotta say even the new bracket went on kind of janky. It doesn't seem to want to fit right but if you work on it, tug a little here, jam it a little there, then tighten it down with the bracket sitting up a little weird it stays in the position that seems like it should be.

Since it's quieter now that it's installed correctly I'm satisfied, so I'm keeping it on and I would recommend this kit

I ordered this same kit and installed it. It came with the right parts and installed in about 30 minutes. Now I can actually hear the blowout valve!!!! lol.... I must say, I did not have an issue with the L bracket.

That's great to hear they corrected the issue with the bracket and are shipping the correct ones now.

How are you liking the sound? I noticed sometimes it's really loud outside of the car when I cold start the engine. It freaks my daughter out in the morning as I usually get in the car first and start up while I'm waiting for her to get her things for school.

Have you modded the exhaust? I'm considering it but would like to get an idea how loud it gets with aftermarket intake and exhaust.

So, I have two teenage boys (16&17) they love it!!! I think the next mod I want to make is changing the Blow Out Valve. What do you think about that? Any recommendations? I was told to go with the HKS ones, but anyone else did this?

So after a few months with the K&N intake I decided to take it off. I just got tired of the wooshing and blow off sounds. Cold starts are very loud too.

Who gets tired of whooshing and blow off sounds... and cold starts are very loud? o_O

So I traded in my heavily modded 16 Frs for an awd 2.0 t. I went from having an insanely loud car to one that is too quiet. I'm 45, the other half already calls the car a gam gam car. I'm looking at doing the intake, exhaust, don't want the ricer sound though, and probably the race chip.

I have a 30 minute drive in the mountains, just looking for a little more pull coming out of corners and scaring the squirrels. There were very few videos of sounds of intakes and exhausts on YouTube. I may go with a custom exhaust from a friend if I cant find any sounds other than Jun bl and their music videos.
