Just signed up, G70 3.3 owner

Since the G70 shares a lot of parts, really wanted to check this site out, especially w/ the current oil feed tube recall on the 3.3T.

Welcome...I think we all share lots of concern about the recall. At least you can go to a Genesis dealership.
Us KIA owners need to deal with mechanics used to working on Fortes and Sportages....
Most of them have 0 experience working on the 3.3 TT engine
And dont get me started on the dealership experience at KIA...lol

There are TSBs, recalls, and major recalls from hell. Will KIA allow us to have this oil pipe replaced in a private shop? Wouldn't it just be documentation? Nah, that is a naïve question.

This recall sounds like a labor intensive job, a motor drop and 12 hr shop time, hopefully we won't have problems from this pipe. Our nearest Genesis dealer is over 200 miles away, so not going to get it done unless I see (or smell) signs of a leaking part. Maybe it's a very low fail rate (fingers crossed)

Every Stinger TSB so far has affected a small number of vehicles prior to the TSB. This is the first recall that I know of for a failed part. Someone educate me if that isn't true. We would have heard a lot by now if a large number of vehicles had failing turbo oil pipes. But then, the future is unwritten and maybe KIA wants to avoid a possible large failure rate?

The stinger is kia's flagship sedan as far as ICE goes. Car has been around now for what, 7 years, going on 8. Perhaps it's a function of where the car is used. IE northern cars subject to corrosive salt treated surfaces are more likely to experience failure than a southern car.

I haven't been following the forum too closely, but iirc only a handful (if that) of leaking oil pipes have been reported here.

If i'm reading the actual recall notice correctly, appears it's pipes used in engines from certain suppliers that are in question.

Wonder why only the LH side feed pipes are affected by this recall and not the RH side?

Have not heard or seen any news of the G70 regarding this notice.

on that main oil pipe thread someone posed the question if the left side turbo failures that we have heard a few cases of are connected to this oil pipe failure. when a turbo fails it is always the left one. the oil pipes are not identical. The left one reaches farther I think and has flex mesh hose with it from what I recall reading. also the heat exposure to the left pipe is greater also from I recall reading. actual hands on experienced commentary is invited.
