Hi,
Signed up for a GT (not Limited) in Canada yesterday. Thunder Grey colour.
Middle Age crisis I guess!
What tire/rim combination do you suggest for winter driving in Canada?

Welcome aboard! And thank you for signing up. Congratulations on your brand new Stinger! What did it replace I'll leave the tire/rim question to the Canadian experts...

Welcome! I would suggest Tire Rack (tirerack.com) as a place to start for sizes, wheel selection, and tires. Even if you end up buying elsewhere, you'll get the right info on sizes, etc.

Congratulations and enjoy!

I went with a straight (ie non staggered) setup for my winters, and dropped down a size (18”) to the optional equipment wheels. But not all wheels will fit over the brembos, I’m told. However the fastwheels FC-04 does.

Thanks for your reply Clearly Canadian.
Those rims look good and a good price also.
I am not familiar with the ins and outs of tire and rim sizes.
What size rims would those 18" equate to?
So I can spec the correct size to the shop?
And any suggestions on an actual set of winter tires?
I have seen some called "Hakkapelitta R2" and they provide these in the 2 sizes for front and rear. It would be useful to know what tire brand you use.
Thanks in advance.

I guess I should have read all replies first so apologies to you Kazz for not thanking you for your Tirerack suggestion. Great idea and saves the hassle of determining correct sizing options!!

And Admin: this car replaces a rather staid, but still good running and well maintained, 2010 Ford Fusion V6 with 325,000 km (203,000 miles).

I have a screen cap handy that might answer your question. I went with Blizzaks myself, I’ve found them to be both effective and inexpensive.

No apology necessary. Just glad you found it. I've depended on Tire Rack for decades and I'm looking forward to decided on my summer wheel & tire setup in a couple of months!

Tire rack is awesome- purchased many tires sets from them.

Hi All,
As per the original post above, I signed up on March 16th.
Today March 24th I picked up my brand new GT in Thunder Gray - 83 km on the clock and a cargo net in the trunk. 2 sets of remotes and stinger carpets.

First a shout out to my fabulous Dealer team at 401 Dixie Kia - Adam and Maise - you did a fantastic job getting this one for me.

I attempted to acquaint myself with the car for about 10 minutes. Then I just wanted to drive. I turned out of the dealership and came to a red light. I stopped. The engine turned off. Now what! I thought to myself I can't go fumbling around to find out to turn that auto stop function off. I just hope it would re-start when I needed it to.

She did - just a small amount of hesitation obviously, but all was OK. I just continued onto my planned route home.

Drove it home in "Smart" mode on the local highway 401 (not the wide open toll road 407) doing a very steady 100 - 115 km/h (60-70 mph) in the slow lane. Leaving lots of space in front. I must admit I was looking for a bit of attention. Sorry!

What a drive: rock solid - all you have to do is just flex your "toe muscle" and you are immediately up to 145 km/h and that long gap that you had - well, its gone!

Pulled into my driveway and called the detailing shop to say that I was close. They are going to apply the ceramic coating and say I could have it back tomorrow afternoon (Sunday) or better I should leave it there overnight and pick it up Monday.

I will go there Sunday afternoon and take a look.

Maybe my co-workers can be surprised on Tuesday instead??

Here are some photos from the dealership with my 2 favourite car salespeople in the world!

After picking my new Stinger from the dealership yesterday Saturday, I then dropped it off at 2.30 pm at Shammy's Auto Detailing for a ceramic coat application.
They called me today on Sunday to say the car is ready for pickup at 1.00 pm. That is almost 24 hours on a weekend!
Shammy and his brothers did an amazing job.
Just take a look at the video they made.
I highly recommend them. Well worth the drive and time!

I hope this link works.
I also installed a set of the timer floor coverings - well worth it.
Thx for looking

Wrong link. Mine is thunder gray in colour. I will get the actual video and post.

Welcome aboard and congratulations. Excellent choice on the colour combo.

I can now post 2 photos after my stinger has had its ceramic coating applied.
The video is too large and is not being accepted.
Shout out to Shammy's Auto Detailing in Pickering, Ontario, Canada.
Enjoy.

May I ask what brand of ceramic he uses, how many coats and the cost. You can PM me if you don't want to reveal the cost.
