Just ordered winter tires- Upstate NY

Getting ready for the winter season, got in on an EBay deal with the tire code: TIRESALE22 they’re running right now. Picked up (x4) Bridgestone Blizzak WS90s in the 225/45R18 size to fit on my stock wheels. Paid $701 delivered, these are the highest rated studless snow tires on TireRack. I could’ve saved another $128 on the set by going with the Pirelli Winter Sotto Zero 3’s- which is supposed to be a “performance” winter tire, but the “would you recommend ” score was so much lower than the WS90’s. I’ve a pretty treacherous 700ft long driveway, up a hill, a bit off grade, so nearly all my vehicles get dedicated winter tires. IMO, they make a significant difference in all the traveling I do- I just broke 17k miles in the 7 months I’ve had the car

The Stinger is a beast with a good set of winters. I have a set of michelin X-ICE XI3 and love them.

i think the Stinger is going to have the luxury of being a garage queen for winter. i've been working from home for the past 2 years, so i think i'm gonna slap the snow tires/wheels on the wife's SUV (its a 2015 with 16k miles on it LOL ... less than the 2022 Stinger!)

I winter drive the Stinger as much as during the rest of the year. The only change is a set of Nitto Motivo UHP A/S tires. Our valleys typically have the roads cleared and 90% dried off by the afternoon following a snow storm, so dedicated winter tires don't suit the bulk of the winter driving conditions. If I was going into the canyons, I'd definitely use winter tires instead.

The Stinger is a beast with a good set of winters. I have a set of michelin X-ICE XI3 and love them.

I do like the X-Ice's and have gone through 2 sets on other vehicles through the years, I have the Blizzak WS90's on my daughters Hyundai Ioniq plug-in and they seem a bit more aggressive. Both are excellent choices, but I definitely saved about $300 with this deal by going withe Blizzaks and I can say through experience the Michelin's are not $300 better.

I used a set of X-Ice 3s last winter for a couple of months, but they seemed just TOO aggressive for the winters here in NNJ. I prefer all-weather tires, and I had been using Nokian WR tires for the previous 15 years. Unfortunately, no one seems to make All-weather tires in the sizes for the stock staggered 19" wheels on my 22 GT1

North Jersey is a bit more coastal than the weather here and that creates a moderating effect regarding snow accumulation. I travel for work into Vermont and the Adirondack regions of NY for pleasure, snowmaggedon's aren't unusual throughout the season, ill take as aggressive as I can get, over getting stranded in 8" of the fluffy stuff. If it gets worse than that I have my 2017 Honda Ridgeline with a 2" lift and 30.5" tires that has yet to get stuck- knock on wood !

I just picked up the new Hankook Ipike studded extreme winter tires and cant wait to see how they perform this winter here far eastern Wa. We can get LONG winters with lots of ice and snow. The Stinger was a garage queen for the last two years. We got rid of our Mazda CX7 which had a previous version of these tires and they were amaZing.
We live on a hill with a sloped driveway off of a sloped arterial so ultimate traction is a must while entering or leaving that street.

These have never let us down before. And lasted over 6 seasons.

I bet Winter is mild this year now. Lol. Also because i bought a backup generator because we frequently lose power for a week during Ice and wind storms. That hasnt happened now either.

Damn, those look pretty sweet and I do like studs for the ice. Hah, I also bought a Wen inverter 220V dual-fuel generator, just put it together last night and your probably right- easy winter ahead, lol

It's the lack of long term snow and ice covered roads combined with the AWD that are driving me to considering a somewhat winter biased AS tirenfor the winter. I'm going to use the stock Primacy AS this winter and see how they do.
