Hi Stinger Owners, I just bought a 2018 Stinger GT and can't wait to get it home. Traded in my 2019 Optima SX and should have the Stinger in a few weeks. Living near a ski resort means I am going to have to get snow tires and rims. Any suggestions on what is best without breaking the wallet wide open. Look forward to hearing your ideas. Thanks, Gary.

Welcome!

I just got my snows put on yesterday. I went with Bridgestone Blizzak 225/45/18 all around on Genesis G70 wheels. I definitely coulda went with a cheaper wheel.

Just curious if the 18" wheel will fit over the Brembo calipers. Thanks, Gary.

Welcome aboard! And thank you for signing up. Congratulations on your new Stinger! Nice upgrade from the Optima SX. I'm glad you found us. :)

Most 18" steel rims won't clear the giant front calipers, but a lot of custom rims will. As someone who tried both, if you're not guaranteed a fit by the shop, then make sure you try them on first, and MAKE SURE THEY SPIN WITHOUT INTERFERENCE.
My second set (18" forged) cleared the the calipers on a test fit, but scraped the strut when I tried driving because I didn't check the offset. Fixed with a set of 200mm spacers but better to just get the right rims from the start.

The g70 wheels do. The 18" wheels off the 4 cylinder Stinger should also work just fine.

Welcome to the hive Gary! - some 18's will fit... I'm running FAST wheels on Michelin Xice (18" x 225 square, FAST FC08 IIRC)

Welcome!

My winter setup is 18" RWC 80 (+33 offset) on Blizzaks. No problems at all with clearance.

All of the Stinger 18" wheels will clear the Brembo front calipers. Just make sure you drive in Comfort, Eco or Smart in the snow: that way your power distribution will be 50/50.

Welcome to the forum.

Car looks ready for off-roading with 18" rims. :p

40/60 for comfort/eco/smart, there's no 50/50 split option. Sport is 20/80.

according to the 2018 testing/development of the d-awd, Kia presentation basically explained the awd system as such. comfort static baseline is 40:60 but can change within it's large thresholds of 50:50 to 10:90 .. it's just as you change the modes, the static baseline goes more rwd with thresholds become smaller and doesn't allow the car to send more than the threshold of power to the front axle ::

Thanks to all for the help and the warm welcome. I am now wondering if 255/40R19 with 42 offset would work on the front. I can get a nice set of 4 for a decent price but not sure about the offset for that size. The diameter will be 12mm more as well which I know will affect my speedometer but because the snows are on for a short time I can deal with that. Thanks. Gary

No. The OEM 8" wide front wheel has an offset of 34. My TSW "Watkins" wheel, 8.5" wide, has an offset of 40 and barely clears the caliper face, and quite tight clearance with the barrel, and that is a 19" wheel. From everything I've read, it doesn't sound like an 18" wheel with that wide of a tire will clear at all with an even tighter offset than mine.
