Jerky automatic transmission shifting

I'm assuming that none of these shifting issues occur if you use the paddle shifters (manual mode). So while working out what is going on you can still drive the car. Right?

I'll test paddles today. Mine doesn't affect me more than just a little clunk in the shift and being a tad jerky. Easily drivable.

13,000 KM, exactly what was mentioned above. 1st to 2nd is rough and have a rev spike. I also had park fail on me last night. After going into park in my driveway it rolled backwards. Dealer cant figure either because they cant reproduce it
I better start using the parking brake......

I can drive the car with no other issues. It's odd to me that the 1-2 shift can be so rude, then the rest are smooth as silk. So it kinda stands out. I can't imagine this is something they just overlooked or didn't think mattered.

Car is drivable, not a limp-mode issue. But disconcerting.

I have not tried to simulate this with the paddles but, honestly, I feel that the computer has more control if it's doing the shifting on its own terms without me throwing in unknown variables. Ergo, it shouldn't be doing this during normal operation. The feeling of slipped shifting and jerkiness occurs under light load, not hard driving, which is also confounding.

I generally don't use the paddles much because the car keeps reverting to D at stops (which is pretty annoying). I used to use my Camaro's paddles all the time, but it was a lot more gratifying and fewer gears to manage (six).

It's a good idea, and takes stress off the transmission's parking pawl. I really wish the EPB would just automatically engage when you turn the car off - it already disengages automatically when you shift out of park.

I don't know how rude you're talking, but the 1-2 shift is always going to be a little more jarring than any other shift.

Hi scotte. My GT2 AWD automatically engages the EPB when I shut the car off. Unsure why yours would behave otherwise.

My GT2 AWD most definitely does not automatically engage the parking brake.

I think the EPB (Electronic Parking Brake) engages automatically if Auto Hold is on, when the ignition is turned off.

Does auto-hold use the "regular" brakes or the e-brake?

My transmission also has quite harsh upshifts, they seem the worst these days going from gear 3 to 4. I haven't taken the car on a very length drive for a while, so it's hard to say if it is smooth after the transmission fluid is "fully hot." I did try the paddles at lunch and when manually shifting coming from a stop numerous times, there was no abrupt shift, just a normal surge that I'd expect when demanding a shift outside of the regularly computer controlled timing.

These "harsh" shifts people talk about, if we are all experiencing the same, are like the transmission smashing from one gear to the next. There is a slightly audible thud (in my car anyway) and an abrupt jerk.

I encourage everyone experiencing this to try a few drives using manual shifting, especially when it is exhibiting the nasty shifts, and report back if manual shifting experiences no harsh shifts compared to auto. If that is the case, I would suspect the automatic shift programming is a likely culprit as the car should experience the harsh shifts every time it engages the gear with the issue regardless of being a computer or pilot demanded shift time. I won't have my car in the shop for a couple more months unless something goes awry, so I won't be reporting back regarding dealer feedback until that time.

My GT2 AWD doesn't engage the EPB automatically, but I definitely use it any time I am parked, unless it's perfectly flat. Been trying to get my wife to do it too cause our driveway is angled, but she parks in the garage now, so less of an issue.

I recently had mine in to repair a leak in my transmission lines and when I got it back every time I started from auto shut off, it felt like someone drive up the back of me...
The claimed to find nothing wrong when I returned the vehicle to Kia for inspection, but performed the Logic update... but whatever they did fixed it

The electronics in my Stinger are a little deeper than what's in my Fox 5.0.

The last sports car I bought was an '06 stang gt.......I was just thinking about the ''bareness'' of the cabin...pretty much nothing compared to the stinger. Couple things irked me about that car, the paint job sucked and the spark plugs needed a miracle to keep them from breaking when removing......and when they broke you were screwed. and the live rear axle...another term for lack of cornering.
