I have a 19’ GTS with K&N intakes and secondary cat deletes, 1,400 miles on the car. Just installed the JB4 and HKS plugs gapped to .023” and on anything above Map 0 it cuts out as soon as boost hits 2-3psi. What am I missing? What could the issue be? I’m at a loss.

Damaged coil?

Damaged coil?
That’s the only thing I can find that matches symptoms. Runs perfect stock or Map0, but anything above that is a no go. A new set of coils are on the way, but want to make sure I cover all bases in case it’s not a coil issue. Physically they all look new and good.

Hopefully it's the coils because if not then that just leaves fuel injectors. Does the JB4 "cut off" it's logging when it happens? If so that is a give away it's a plug/coil and not an injector.

Yes the gauge screen seems to freeze up when it cuts out. So that means coils?

just my kinda luck to be one of the few with weak coils stock. Lol

Out of curiosity, why does a weak coil or plug misfire cause the JB4 to stop reading and freeze?

Nice. Hiw you figure that out?

It’s worth pulling the plugs and putting new ones in before you shell out for new coils. I was having the same issue with fairly new plugs and I guess when I gapped the new plugs I bent the electrode some how and that was causing my problem.

They are brand new plugs. Stock plugs were gapped to .024” first and same thing happened. Hoping it was plugs I installed the new “recommended” HKS plugs gapped to .023”. No change.
I ohmed out all the coils and 5 read 2.6meg and 1 read 3.2meg. I have a feeling that’s the weak one, but I have a whole new set of coils coming.

Good luck - when you get those new coils in let us know if that fixes it.

In the meantime, perhaps try and swap coils around and see if that makes a difference. One G70 owner had similar problems, brought his car to the dealer, they supposedly swapped 2 coil packs around, and now it's working well. *shrug*

Another flaw of this platform, when a coil does not fire properly it sends an electrical surge down the ground system. The JB4 picks this up and disables itself to prevent physical damage.

Hey Punkin, were you able to fully diagnose this issue? Was it coil packs?

BTW if anyone has this issue we traced increased electrical sensitivity down to something on the JB4 initial load settings and can send a replacement 2580 chip to correct if needed. Systems shipped around Oct/19 - Jan/20 have the more sensitive setting.

I predict we are going to start seeing a lot of posts like this... why, because ECU changes have been made.

I've seen logs from 19 cars showing strange things on higher maps ...

And yet... none of those logs or 2019/2020 owners are apparently complaining. I always find that weird, but when I make note of them complaining or even mention it, I am the bad guy, lol.

You think the 19/20 models had ecu parameter revisions?

While changes from year to year are expected we've not seen any issues or differences on the 19/20 models vs earlier models in JB4 logs on our end.
