You not making them anymore or is VT suing you too?
Nah, I never made any more, was never interested in trying to sell them. I never released the plans so I wouldn't undercut sales from you or VT.

That sucks if they are really trying to sue you, you did your own work to develop yours, I remember. If they succeed and you can't sell more, let me know, then I'll have no qualms about releasing my plans publicly.

Are you getting sued??
Yep, the complaint is at the bottom of this article

Thats some crap. Was it patiented pending or anything? Can you just change the mouth of the thing into a different shape so it's not just a bigger version of theirs? I do like Thwacks shape, but it doesn't matter if you just pull the shroud instead of cutting through it. Maybe something more flatter and rectangle like a horn tweeter?

It will take a decade or more, but hopefully we can get to to the point to where patents have to be more specific to design, not nearly as generic as they are. Patents should focus more on the "how" not the "what". People getting patents for simply merging X and Y.
VT's R&D for product dimensions and any "secret sauce" put into manufacturing should be protected, but not the general concept of an intake snorkel. Nor should obvious design aspects/elements be considered patentable (like wide mouth tapering down to the stock intake inlet, or a swiping gesture on a touch screen).

What does this mean for availability? Should we buy now? Or is it already too late?

I don't anticipate that it will be resolved any time soon and when it is I am confident that I will still be selling the AirScoops.

If you ever change your mind on that, it would certainly save me time because otherwise I'll just design and print my own with a similar shape for my car. I just don't care much for the rectangles.

Does the red match the Hichroma Red, or is the Dark Red a better match? Saw somewhere that the dark red is a good match Brembo brakes?

Second question, anyone got long term mileage report on these - ie. Do they last, any cracks etc? Who’s got some serious km/miles with them?

Yeah the red matches the hichroma red better and the dark red matches the brembos better.

Just bought a pair, to support our forum members...

Anybody have these on a daily driver car that lives in an area that sees extremely cold temps? In the winter, MN can get down to -30 to -45. Don't think sucking in more cold air, when it's that cold is a good idea.

The stock air intake gets the air from the same place, the scoops just remove the restrictions.
What some have worried about is ingesting rain if it rains hard, but no one has reported any issues yet.

Engines love cold air, although at temps that low the coldness of the air is the least of your worries, I'd be more worried about the liquids freezing.
