Bad I've been swindeled

Isn't the remote start implemented in Canadian or other outside the U.S. cars or other Kia models? I thought I remembered it was part of the non-U.S. EVO stuff, in which case it could be implemented by Kia - maybe - by updating the EVO program. But that may lead to some nasty legal issues.

Bought a Stinger GT2 from a dealer in Suffolk, NY. The agreed price was for the car with the remote start. When I went to pick up the car, I asked again to make sure it had the remote start. The salesman said "no, we agreed on that?" so he gave me a We owe you form. I made an appointmebt to have it put in the next week, but they told me it wasn't available yet to put in if it wasn't installed in the factory.and that it would be available in the summer. That's half true, only that when I called Kia consumer affairs, they said they called the sales manager and he said it's for an aftermarket remote start, not a kia remote start! I had no idea I was being swindled like this. Checking the BBB shows that seemed to of gotten investigated for something like this in the past.

Not sure if this will help you but I recently purchased a 2018 Kia Sorento for my wife. Didn't opt for remote start since it really isn't something we need. However, I discovered by accident an undocumented feature. If I press the "lock" icon and the "hold" icon in quick succession, the vehicle starts. Pressing the "hold" icon again turns the car off.

You mean you're pressing these on the original key?

That's correct. The option for remote start includes a separate fob. However, the same behavior works with the standard fob when you don't choose the remote start option. As ridiculous as it sounds, it appears the extra cost option is simply for the additional (and less convenient) fob.

Tried it, but all it does is either lock or unlock the car. It should be lock and immediately hold, correct?

Then it needs to be paired with the remote start.. I posted the procedure somewhere in here.

I don't have the remote start installed, hence my OP. Jsh 1120 said that he didnt purchase it yet had it in the car.

Well, I live on Long Island and when the time comes, I won't be purchasing a Stinger from this Suffolk county dealer. Sorry you have to go through this:(

Folks, keep in mind that I noted the remote start procedure works with my Kia SORENTO, not the Stinger. I simply noted that it might be worth checking on the Stinger.

And just for giggles I did check it out. Does not work on my GT2. Not that I expected it to!

Just review them on DealerRater, Google, and make sure they are aware that you are reviewing them on the forums. It has worked wonders for me in the past with a lemon I purchased.

yeah the "outside US" markets can start their vehicle from the UVO app from anywhere

As i understood UVO not available in Europe. We have to use the key. (Not sure, no car yet)

Post the dealer name and no one will buy from him!
