Bought a Stinger GT2 from a dealer in Suffolk, NY. The agreed price was for the car with the remote start. When I went to pick up the car, I asked again to make sure it had the remote start. The salesman said "no, we agreed on that?" so he gave me a We owe you form. I made an appointmebt to have it put in the next week, but they told me it wasn't available yet to put in if it wasn't installed in the factory.and that it would be available in the summer. That's half true, only that when I called Kia consumer affairs, they said they called the sales manager and he said it's for an aftermarket remote start, not a kia remote start! I had no idea I was being swindled like this. Checking the BBB shows that seemed to of gotten investigated for something like this in the past.

That sucks man, sorry that you're having to go through that. I had a super crappy experience with my dealership as well.

On a side note, I just purchased the remote start online for $272 and will probably install it this weekend by myself. Based on the PDF I saw online, it doesn't seem very difficult. I hope it's easy.

@Johnny5126 what does your We Owe You say on it? Just remote start or OEM remote start?

Kia remote start Regardless how unethical can you be knowing that the consumer had no idea that there's more than one kind they'd install? I'm in a kia dealership buying a new car they're not going to put in their own part?

Honestly, a bit shocking in this day and age but there will always be dbags looking to make a dime off someone else's nickel. So sorry you're having to deal with that!

Kia remote start

If it says Kia Remote Start id say that’s pretty strongly implied that it’s OEM. I’d make sure to let the Premium Customer Care line know what is going on.

Also you are likely to get a survey from KIA about buying the car. If it’s not resolved make sure the scores in the survey reflect that. Dealers will do lots of things to make sure those scores are high.

Scores are everything. The customer comes 1st as they say.

Can they credit you the value of the Remote?

I'd call KIA customer support. Explain what you are unhappy with. Let them be the middleman between you and the dealer if they are not responding.

Did that. Of course they tell me that the dealers are their own separate entity, but they said they want me to send them the we owe form and they'll get to the bottom of it.

Sounds better than nothing. They will get it handled. We get dinged if we do not tell a customer how to operate the windshield wipers. They go over everything in detail.

Isnt the "OEM Remote Start" technically aftermarket anyway since it needs the other FOB? I turned it down because my dealer said the other FOB was required and i didnt want to have another bulky piece to have to worry about.

Also, for the survey, they must have "routed" mine to another email as i NEVER received one on the buying process for the dealer. Prob best for the dealer in that case given the experience i had and i am sure they knew it.

I read that you can program the original key to the remote start without having to use the 2nd fob.

As far as the survey I never received it either ecause I'm sure they knew what my answers would be as well. Out of the 6 new cars I bought this was by far the most stressful and deceiving expirience of them all.

That is correct, you can use your original FOB for remote start instead of the second remote. The second remote has a longer range, but isn't really needed unless you are a pretty long distance from the vehicle.

Oem starter is kinda of bogus because when you open door car shuts off. Maybe you got lucky do some research on the best aftermarket remote starter and insist on that brand if they won't give you oem. If it's done at the dealership it shouldn't void any warranty...just make sure. Unless there some option like starting from your phone or some other James bond feature I missed you probably be happier with aftermarket..good luck with your new whip

Consult a lawyer for free ... write your local news stations ... Keep on thier ass and take up all their time ... picket the dealership!!! Burns me when I hear of dealers runarounds!!!
