I luv tranny websites.
Can they handle it? Most can. For how long? No one knows yet. Some people have lost transmissions for the oil pumps failing even non modded. A majority of the losses seem related to people boosted launching via snip or misuseDoes this mean that our trannys are not equipped to handle additional power and torque from tunes, such as JB4?
Any members with tunes having issues with powertrain?
thanks
It says 530lbs. Pretty sure a JB4 isn't pushing it that highDoes this mean that our trannys are not equipped to handle additional power and torque from tunes, such as JB4?

That’s in NM not ft-lbs. In ft-lbs the max would be around 391 according to the graphic. It says 530lbs. Pretty sure a JB4 isn't pushing it that high
Oh boy sounds like Kia sales people. Love Kia's but sell myself on them and basically just let the sales people be paper movers:When I bought my Stinger a salesman explicitly told me it has a DCT. I said it didn’t and he still stood behind his claim. Also the article about DCTs claims the Stinger has one. There is definitely still some confusion out there.
My guy insisted that all I need to put in it was 87 Octane. However, he is actually right as long as you leave it 100% stock and temperatures are cooler. The stock snorkels limit the engine so 87 Octane is all you need in most conditions. Some of these sales people dont do their homework. I knew more about the car when I bought mine than the sales guy.. kinda bothered me that he insisted 87 was recommended. It took all I had after the sale was done not to open the manual and show him where he was wrong

They had to change the manual from 87+ to 91+ because in certain climates it can pull timing even with a 100% stock car. However, I have tested it extensively in cooler weather all you need is 87 Octane to get maximum performance. Once you make any performance modifications at all that all goes out the window and 93+ is recommended then.
I am surprised I haven't seen any mis-information on the way Kia advertises the 2.0t engine. I was just at the dealer to have the HECU recall done (that's a whole other story) and was looking at a '21 Stinger GT-line. The sticker sheet says "2.0l twin scroll turbocharged engine". I expect people to start claiming their 2.0t is twin turbo from bending the facts around.Just shows you how well some of the car salesman out there know their cars. Definitely not a DCT.
There COULD be a loss of power but that isn’t always the case with lower octane gas. If the conditions are right and the IATs stay low then it won’t pull timing and you will get the same performance regardless of the Octane. Were any of those runs on 91 or 93 octane? I'm curious if there's an improvement, as there should be. The engine can run on 87, but the timing/mapping adjusts and there's a power loss on 87 and 89 octane per Kia's own documentation.
This is literally insaneI am not going to be convinced by internet untill i tear into the thing myself one day
Is your car modified? Do you live in one of the warmer spots in California? If none of those things apply then 93 Octane probably won’t benefit your car at all.Wish I could swap the 91 from California which is the highest we can get for some of your 93
Putting my jb4 on this weekend so I can at least run map1. Will need octane booster if I want to use map2.Is your car modified? Do you live in one of the warmer spots in California? If none of those things apply then 93 Octane probably won’t benefit your car at all.
Now some people have said the fuel in California is just bad and not just lower Octane. That is a whole different discussion.
Yes, in that case the higher the Octane the better it will perform. However, there certainly are things you can do to bring IATs down and make that Octane booster less necessary. An aftermarket intercooler will go a long way especially if it is the Mishimoto one. Also aftermarket snorkels and a sealed air filter enclosure can really help a lot with IATs.Putting my jb4 on this weekend so I can at least run map1. Will need octane booster if I want to use map2.
