Is it bad I’m considering car based on forum?

Is choosing a car based on the community dumb?

Or whether you need premium or not. *ducks for cover*
That is inarguable now, since at the beginning of this year, Kia went to full synthetic.

The Stinger of is the better twin overall IMO. Unless the shooting break gets sent over to the USA with the 3.3 and AWD, then Id kiss my stinger goodbye so fast.....

Hey all,

Been a while. I sold my Stinger about a year ago and I’m itching to get back into something fun again and out of my Ridgeline. I’m thinking about getting a new Stinger but I also was heavily considering the new G70. However, I went to the G70 forum and it’s just not very active, whereas this forum always has been. The cars are so similar that this is actually factoring into my decision because I enjoy the community. Is that a weird thing to factor into my car decision?
Doesn’t matter which one you buy, the G70 is welcome here and we have a number of them contributing. So go out there and get yourself that Stinger.

A year ago was in the process of trying to buy a k5/gt. They were no where to be found and grossly overpriced. Some forum/youtube/reddit posting suggested looking at the stinger...

Here we are.

Still, if the car didn't appeal to me, check off enough boxes, there'd be no deal.

Yeah I’m talking about getting one like I can just go to the dealer but that’s obviously not going to happen in todays world. I’m not paying new prices for a used car, I’ll put in an order and wait if I have to.

I voted no. I don't think a forum would make me choose one car over another, but I was lurking around here for around a year before I bought my Stinger late in August just to see what the owners thought about them, their mod-ability (not that I'm planning anything insane), and what the usual gripes are--kinda a window into what I was getting myself into before getting one.

That's a very smart/savvy approach. I had been mostly buying the car based on youtubers and general car community reviews/rep. In hindsight, your strategy makes a lot of sense. Had I read some of the issues that crept up like trunk rattles I'm not sure it would have been a deal breaker, but it may have influenced my decision were I actually deciding between multiple vehicles (pricing had already eliminated the competition in my case).

Thanks! I would recommend lurking to anyone for whatever they're looking into. I did see the trunk rattle issues before I bought mine, but I also saw it was an easy-enough fix and so far (knock wood) it hasn't happened to me yet.

Hmmm a modern question for sure. Car culture was always one of community. So on that bassis alone. Stay where people make you happy or venture forth into unknown. Neither being a negitive.

And an active car community makes it much easier to lurk.
