Hi there, greetings from Poland!

Recently I came across a guide to install Android apps on Kia's (Hyundai and Genesis models are also supported) media/naviagtion/infotainment screen.

Link to the guide:
forum[dot]xda-developers[dot]com/general/connected-car/hack-navigation-multimedia-systems-kia-t3892333
Working link for the apps used in the guide (provided by author on 8th page of the guide):
yadi[dot]sk/d/zuxGUpIwnc_QVg

I tried that today and it worked perfectly.
If you're about to test it for yourself, be sure to follow the guide (not installing any android launcher is crucial as it can brick your media system). Don't install too many heavy apps as it can slow down entire media system or - in worst scenario - cause some system apps to crash.
Car's Android version is 4.2.2, so you can't install alot of new apps and in case of other apps, you need to download previous versions that were designe to work with 4.2.2 (look for those on apkmirror[dot]com or apkpure[dot]com).

Replace [dot] with actual dots as I'm prohibited from posting links - it's my first post here ;)

I'll post some photos or a video of my installment later.
Hope it'll be handy!
Best,
Mateusz

I saw this a few months ago. I'm on 12.5 and I wasn't able to get the engineering mode to show up with the tap sequence.

I could be an idiot though, if any US Stingers on 12.5 manage to get it to show up, that'd be cool.

Edit: I watched his videos, you can see the tap sequence of him going into engineering mode here. You need to navigate to the screensaver options and do the 7 taps. If anyone on 12.5 wants to try, let me know if it works. My car is going to be in the shop for a few weeks. Starts at 2:30.

I have FW version 12.5 on my HU, and tried the 7 taps sequence via Screen Saver unsuccessfully. There is another video on YT showing someone accessing engineering mode on a 2018 KIA Soul HU using a different tap sequence on the System Info screen - that doesn't work either.

Perhaps it's different in different markets, or they switched the access method with the firmware update. Sure would like to know what it is, though - if anyone does have a successful access method, please post!

I was able to use this method: 5 + 1 taps in the system info screen. However that doesn't have the Android Settings section.

Tried it on my Stinger and it did not work. Hope the find a way to make it work.

10 + 1 taps on the system info screen accessed Engineering mode on my 12.5 software version, and 15 + 1 taps seems to replicate the 'Update' button functionality. Lots of diagnostics by the looks of it - and potential to mess things up badly.

But no luck on getting to the Android settings via the Screen Saver method, which is what I'm primarily interested in ... :(

I can access engineering mode using settings, version tap 4 times and then one tap on map version number using software on Australia map 12.47.51.632.001.2 (V12.0)
But no luck with code of "current 24 hour time". Anyone have any codes that may work please?

Code is 2998 to access these 3 options

so with no android option, cannot allow android install of "3rd party apps", so no access to explorer to side load apps. Bummer
