Out of 800, so I read. But if Kia did the same split of D-AWD and RWD as for the Fed Orange GTS of last year, then if you got a D-AWD, yours is one of "less than 500 being made".

Yeah I got mine a few weeks back and have yet to find out. Only thing I have found is that they are limited to 500 world wide and supposedly only 55 in the US. Not even sure if they made the total 500. I do like the idea of limited edition but not sure if I like KIA's quiet launch of special editions with limited information.

The problem is you can not verify that. The only thing we have is third party articles that state 500 WW and 55 in the US. Some articles only state the 500 number.

There is nothing official from kia or a numbering so it's all speculative. That's why I said special edition with limited information. Would be nice to know actual numbers but I understand these are test launches to see what the market actually wants that will probably be standard in future releases.

That's how they do it alright. Last year's "special" color became standard available in 2020 on the GT2; which annoyed some people who had purchased the Fed Orange GTS. They wanted Fed Orange to stay limited to 500-800 GTS. I suspect that in 2021 we'll see Indigo as a GT2 color; and possibly they'll move Fed Orange to other trims (and bring back Silky Silver, who knows).

Yeah I'm sure the colors will become standard but I think the main selling point for these limited runs is the D-AWD with drift mode and wonder if that will eventually become the standard AWD upgrade?

Seems to be a lot of fuzziness on how many of these things are actually in the US right now. Dealership told me there's only 33 of these in our region up here in the North East.

When i was test driving, the only AWD GT at the dealers in my area was the Special Edition, and similar to the rest of you guys I saw the 500 number thrown around everywhere online, and the people at the dealership said 500 multiple times, but they didnt specify worldwide or just the US.

I did think it was pretty interesting though that in my state and the surrounding, there were like 6 Special Editions. I wonder what the allocations were like.

from what our dealer said, supposedly there will be one indigo edition per us dealer.. .closer to 800 ??? who knows... lol

Indigo edition is exclusive to US. Asia & Australia have had it since day one. But we call it DCB.
It was available in incarnations such as the "Rafa" & "Nightsky" editions. The Rafa edition was also available in Aurora black & Pathera metal they had the brown leather as does the Indigo version , ours was the 2.0litre model. Nightsky 3.3litre, grey leather and bimodial exhaust. Rafas where personally numbered 1-75. Badge shown next to Usb console and rear boot lid.
