Car has K&N drop ins, HKS 45ils,SSR Performance downpipes,Tork Motorsports Stage 1 ECU. The service at SSR and Tork are top notch. Having driven around with the downpipes for a couple of days,
the exhaust note is not obnoxious at all. It's just a little bit throatier. The difference is with the tune.
The tune and downpipes compliment each other nicely. The car just goes. Very smooth power delivery. Different car vs. stock. At 80 it's very docile, yet hit the accelerator and it flat out moves.
The stock suspension is fine, but I intend to button it up with sways and springs. Do it right, or don't do it all. Especially with power increases. What a fun car. The mod bug is back. Now if we can just tweak those turbos........

Good to hear! Any noticeable drone anywhere in the powerband with the SSR downpipes and OEM exhaust?

I wish I lived closer to Tork!

I've been thinking about this tune, but how does the Stage 0 or 1 tune adjust for the bolt ons already on the car? I have k&n intakes, jun bl dps, and thermal exhaust.

We create the tune per the mods you have on the vehicle. Stage 0 is more for stock vehicle and stage one is for modded vehicle.

I loved the stealthy performance that my Model S had. So, I am a performance enthusiast but don't care for a 'loud' exhaust. What solution(s) is available for the Sting that would meet my desire?

We have muffler deletes on our website that sounds pretty good. Also Magnaflow has a very nice sounding exhaust that isnt loud at all has a nice rumble to it. We have them both listed on our website damnfastdd.com

What about all the talk about '''drone'. I have never experienced anything like that, but can imagine how it could be annoying if it happens at cruising speeds. Do all exhaust solutions add droning that is supposed to be accepted/tolerated for the increase in power?

Can the be any gains from ECU programming if all I have is K&N drop ins and regapped plugs?

The magnaflow i have not heard any complaints about drone with plus they have big drone chambers just like a lot of the other exhausts have on them as well.

The ECU may adapt for the K&N filters I have not seen any dyno results for just them. No need to regap the plugs if your not getting tuned if your getting tuned your going to want to pick up a set oh HKS Spark plugs like the ones on our website.

I know there are trade secrets but could you give me an idea as to what is being tuned w/ your tune? DM is fine as well

I don't want to stray too far from the intent of this thread, BUT....
Magnaflow is considered the quietest aftermarket exhaust. There is no "drone". BUT it does resonate quite loudly from 1,500 to 2,500 while accelerating. The trunk floor isn't dampened or insulated AT ALL, so the whole thing is an amplifier. Some good sound treatments help.
"Drone" is, while cruising, the exhaust resonates loudly. I've had systems like this and it's annoying as hell going down the highway. The magnaflow is very quiet while cruising. But, get on the gas and it opens up. If you truly want quiet exhaust then stick with the stock system.

Again, not intending to derail the thread, but it sounds like downpipes may give you what you are looking for. Considerably cheaper than a cat-back exhaust, and when paired with the stock exhaust they give impressive gains in power along with very minimal increase in sound. Looks like the way I'll end up going - I definitely don't want a loud exhaust, but a bit throatier burble is an acceptable compromise for the extra power.

There are exhaust and/or downpipe threads that you'll probably want to switch to, if you want to pursue it further.

On start up with the SSR downpipes, the car has a healthy burble that lets you know the car is not stock. When
warmed up and cruising at moderate speeds there is the tiniest bit of resonance and is very close to stock in
nature. The downpipes add personality to the exhaust note. When you hit the accelerator in city driving and when getting "on it" while on the freeway, it'll let you know it, in a subtle way. A little throatier than stock,
yet not obtrusive. The car maintains its civility and is still comfortable and quiet. You really can't go wrong
with these downpipes. Enjoy them a lot.
