Our team is getting a well deserved temporary break from all the craziness in this community. All complaints and reports will be handled directly by me.

If you need a reminder of how I expect people to be treated around here, READ MY PLEDGE.

Here's a recap:
- I pledge to assure you of a clean and comfortable community environment.
- I pledge to promote diversity and respect for all human differences.
- I pledge to provide prompt, friendly, and courteous service to those who need it.
- I pledge to respond in a rapid, sensitive, and non-confrontational manner to requests that will enhance your experience.
- I pledge to provide you with an experience that will encourage you to return.

Behave...

Goodness - sounds like a restructuring in progress! Is the Stingerforum corporation no longer able to pay the moderators' generous salary and benefit packages?

What can us lowly serfs down in the mailroom aspire to now?

Moderating here has become far more of a chore than expected. I prefer the stresses be on me rather than anyone else for the time being...

Good on ya, as those in reverse toilet swirl land might say - just be careful not to burn yourself out.

Congratulations on the site's popularity, but that's a lot to handle for one soul - especially on top of your other ventures ...

The only ventures that use my time are this place and my "day job". I'm sitting at my desk all day long - and sometimes, all night long. I'm here to do what needs to be done. The team needs a break.

Just to quantify its “On Ya”...lol

Seriously .............I know this will be controversial , but I think the site has become a tad
"over moderated" and we should allow a more organic approach to allowing people to openly express themselves , too often of late , a few mods hit the GONG and ruin a great flow of opinions ................I've had so many "behind the scenes " messages in the last 2 months from other members venting frustration about mods pulling down comments due " their opinions" .....................I think this Forum has lost a bit of the "fun" from a year ago and prior ...........let the flaming begin ..................always respectfully and in my opinion !

I hear from people on both sides of the situation. The mods have been following my lead, so the fault is mine in the over-moderation. However, there is also a lot of complaining about, believe it or not, under-moderation. There's a very fine balance - and I need to figure that out before I can lead a team that bends over backwards trying to do whatever it is that I'm telling them is "the right way".

I will figure it out - but I need to be 100% involved in every decision that goes on for a bit. I need to see and react to every complaint. And there will surely be quite a few.

There was once tremendous harmony here. This was a happy place for everyone. The only moderation needed was moving topics into their proper forums. But somewhere along the way, I guess things got too comfortable - or something. I would really love to see some of the old friends of yore be good friends again...

I appreciate your position , Trolls are a huge issue on Forums and there are enough seasoned members here to spot them QUICKLY ! When the broad membership calls them out we are often the ones that bear the brunt of the mods approach , I left the Telluride Forum for this exact issue , somehow we often let Trolls graze through here until they drop a bomb and by then the damage is done ..............

I would love to take care of trolls early on - but they need to be reported on. I think most of the members here prefer to deal with them on their own. That's understandable as I'm sure none of you need help with that. However, it's really one of my responsibilities to escort them to the door if they're going to be a problem. I need to be involved early on. As early as possible. Otherwise, everybody looks bad as the arguments, name calling, accusations, etcetera just keep adding up...

I'm committed to getting things back on track here the way they were in the beginning. I accept the challenge. I hope you will all help me - and work with me - to make that happen. It would be easy to simply continue the way things have been going. Chips on shoulders. Nastiness to one another for who knows what reason. When all is said and done, I'm sure we'd all get along really nicely in a bar each with a drink in hand. I hope you'll accept the challenge with me - to make this the happy place it used to be...

Over 9,000 members now goes a long way towards behavioural changes & the general mood within the forum, anyone who tries to troll is like pouring petrol onto a small flame, it will flare up pretty quickly.

I know the first reaction is to - well - react! I know. I'd prefer everyone let me do the dirty work - but I know how it is. Nobody wants somebody else to fight their battles...
