As many of you know, some of us Sunset Yellow owners who’ve been stricken with faulty paint are being offered several options, one of which includes a repaint and $5000 “good will gesture.” While this has yet to be offered to others, I’d like to know how each of you—whether you fall into the Sunset Yellow crowd or not—would invest that $5000 back into your Stinger.

As I trust many of us will use the money for various things that have nothing to do with the car, I ask you to only include options for spending the money on the car itself. Below, I listed some amounts, including the entire sum of $5000. So there you go: $5000 is yours to “invest” as you wish. Enjoy!

(Copy and paste the list below and let us see how you’d spend on your Stinger)

I would really like to see what you all think would be the “best” way to “invest” in our beloved Stingers. Please, fill out the segments. Feel free to go wild with your ideas because there is no right or wrong answer. To each, his or her own; don’t judge too harshly what others suggest, as we all have our interests, tastes, and priorities. I’m excited to see what you all suggest.

$2600 on the bimodal exhaust available here in Australia as an accessory. As for the rest, maybe rebadge and a dash cam unless Kia come up with an option to allow the existing cameras to record

US$5000, spend AU$4400 on engine chip & exhaust (which is what I was quoted today) & balance of AU$600 for fuel = over 1/2 year of free motoring & because of the exchange rate I would put the other AU$1825 in the bank..

I'd put the whole thing in a car account and draw on it as needed/wanted. One of the first withdrawals would be for new tires, probably new summer rears by spring time. And for sure, a set of winters pretty soon. I might get a new set of rims for the summers and allow the original rims for the winter tires. My paint is fine. If it weren't, I'd be using the $5K to make sure it is.

I’m enjoying reading what you all think. Ideally, I’d like to see everyone include the less expensive things they’d do, and work up to the whole Five Gs.

I think the only thing I would do is have my roof painted. I'm satisfied with the rest my car's mods.

The other $4k I'd spend like others have said--toward the loan.

What about the less expensive things some of us have already done?

Oh wow! I hadn’t even considered tha. Good observation! Yes, please include things that you’ve already done for those costs.

Ok mine are in AU$ & bear in mind I did a few changes late last year so pricing has changed on some items:

$158 for Stinger Badging - Front E, Rear Script & E Wheel Caps.
$32 for Door Striker Covers.
$4 for Door Check Arm Covers.
$80 for OEM Cargo Mat.
$500 for rear S Type Spoiler - purchase, painted & fitted.
$335 for CF Black look OEM Engine Cover - awaiting delivery.
$100 for OEM Mud Flaps - Dealer fitting next week.
$8 for Stainless Steel Mesh for front vents.
$278 for 1:18th Scale Die-Cast Model.
$17 for Auxito W16W LED Reversing Bulbs - currently in transit.
$110 for Auto Electrician to hard wire existing Dash Cam.

I think we're all in different financial situations and different levels of impulsiveness. Some would see this as free money to blow on things they might not have purchased otherwise. Some who plan to keep their vehicle might use it to pay down the loan, hence reducing not only the payments or loan term, but also saving on interest charges.

I personally plan to get an exhaust and tune as soon as I've got a few miles on it (probably fly-and-drive when the right car comes up so I'll be halfway there by the time I get home!) and something like this wouldn't enter into the equation. The cash would be dropped into my overall financial portfolio along with everything else.

The only "what if" I have is whether to get a wrap, which would be about half of that amount for what I want. I can afford it anyway, but unlike the performance mods that are non-debatable, I don't *need* a wrap. If someone said here's one for free, I'd take it, but paying $2500 for it means I won't necessarily get it right away. A situation like this might sway me, but I won't qualify anyway, as I'm getting a 2019..
