Finally someone thought to solve the problem of silent EVs. The 2018 Kia Niro EV has a simple feature that solves a huge safety problem with electric cars. This simple feature should be installed in Tesla Model S, Model X, Model 3, Nissan Leaf and all other EVs that silent powertrains.

Electric vehicles have one big problem that needs to be addressed. It's a pedestrian safety issue and related to silent powertrains that EVs use.

As you know electric cars use a silent powertrain. When pedestrians get closer and for some reason don't see the EV approaching from behind they will not hear the sound of that EV, which puts their lives in danger of the driver's attention is diverted to something else.

Finally, Kia became the first EV producer that decided to address this issue. The new Kia Niro EV, which is revealed at the 2018 CES, among other good features also has front speakers. The way Tesla is currently bleeding so much cash with so little to show, it wouldn't surprise me if they go arse-up soon, so I wouldn't worry. As for the rest, I'm sure the Brussels eurocrats will soon see that artificial noise is made mandatory - I guess something like the noise made by the flying cars in the 'Jetsons' would be appropriate. IIRC in a review of the eGolf, it has something like that that is only active at fairly low speeds.

haha yeah, the fact that Tesla is still losing money amazes me. I was optimistic about Tesla and didn't think much about how they were losing money, but man, it's been so long and still losing more cash than my grandma is losing her mind. Actually losing cash isn't so bad as how they still haven't managed to get their production anywhere close to where they wanted.

I wouldn't be surprised if some giant companies would jump in and buy a big piece of Tesla Motor in a year or two. As great as Musk is, I think he bit off a bit more than he can chew at this moment.

It would need to be distinctive - something like 'Robot' from lost in Space would work: "Warning Will Robertson, Danger!, Danger! Danger!" or one could go Orwellian when we all have implanted Near Field identifiers: "Human 23B465W41, an autonomous transport Pod Kia 49224N is approaching from your left - please mind your step"
