I need some advice

So I am in Virginia, it does get cold here and sometimes we get a lot of snow, sometimes we don't during the winter season. I just learned last night that the tires that came in with my GT2 are not all-season tires, but summer tires (I don't understand why they would sell cars with just summer tires in states that gets snow). Now I have to go and spend more on tires so these summer tires won't crack when weather starts to get cold. However here is where I need your advice/help.

1. Should I just get the tires swapped, sell the summer tires and cut my losses?
2. Keep using the summer tires and invest on an aftermarket wheels with all season tires?
3. If I do #2, Should I:
4. Go down to 18s with staggered tire sizes?
5. Go down to 18s with same tire sizes?
5. Stay at 19s with staggered tire sizes?
6. Stay at 19s with same tire sizes?

Additionally, If I decide on the wheel/tire package:
1. What is the stock offset on the 19 wheels?
2. Will the aftermarket TPMS need to be programmed to work or is the car smart enough to recognize the TPMS and reset itself? I'm trying to avoid re-programming the TPMS if I switch back and forth and also trying to avoid paying twice to re-balance the wheels/tires if I have to get an OEM TPMS since Tirerack will already have them balanced for me.

1: Up to you, I'd keep em. They're fun.
2: This is what I'm doing, but I live in Utah and am putting winter tires on, lots of snow and I've gotta drive through it.

I would go with option 5 (the first 5, 18x8 all around) if you want to put winter tires on. You'll be switching back to summers when it gets warm anyways, no reason to get all-seasons if you'll only be using them in the winter.

Stock 19" offset is 40mm.
The TPMS reprogram themselves after driving on the new set of wheels. Note: Buy the TPMS off of Ebay (Part number 52933 J5000), I got mine from Korea in 2 weeks at $23/ea, Tirerack wanted $89/ea.

If you don't want to do winter tires, then you have a lot more flexibility. 18x8 is more for winter traction (Wider tires don't do as well on snow/ice), and the winter tire selection in staggered 19" is pretty bad.

18s are cheaper than 19s, so if you're looking for winter wheels that you may damage, then its a no brainer.

Yes, currently only Pirelli at Tire Rack. I am still planning on keeping my original 19" staggered rims on through the winter and running Pirelli if there isn't anything else available. Come spring, I'll decide whether to invest in a pristine set of OEM 19" rims to put my summer tires back on (i.e. keep the winters on my original rims after that); or have the tires swapped on the original rims. I don't like the idea of swapping tires back and forth. But the reality is that this isn't anything more than a minor hassle, with rims that already have curb rash, so I won't be noticing any additional minor "rash" from the tire guys doing their job. So, when the time comes to switch back to the Michelin Pilot Super Sport summers, I may just try the tire swap for the first time and see how it goes. The unused set of tires will go in the corner of our shed, which already has a space prepared.

Are the rims different size or just the tires? I think I'm just gonna sell the tires it came with and go with the bfgoodrich comp 2as uhpas. I dont have 1600 to drop on new wheels and tires, plus storage is a problem

Just remember, your Stinger is speed governed at 167 MPH with the Michelin's which are rated at 186 MPH. Unless you get AS that are rated that high or at least above 167 MPH, you will risk (how much risk? ) exceeding the upper safety limit of the AS. Kia puts a 140 MPH limit on the Stingers that come equipped with 18" AS tires (which, iirc, are rated at 150 MPH). So anyone changing to 19s and Michelin summer tires or the equivalent will still be limited to 140 MPH top speed. The reverse is where you put tires on a 167 MPH car that are not designed to go that fast.

Good thing the comp 2as speed rating is W which is 168mph. I'm 1 mph safe

If you have the room to store a set of wheels and tires, get a second set of wheels you don't mind getting pitted and chipped in the winter months with all that salt and debris in the road and go 18" and a dedicated winter tire, blizaks have great review. If not, compromising with an all season tire will be your next choice, unless you actually want to swap tires twice a year.

Today I noticed that my rear Pilot Super Sports are about twice as gone as the front tires are. I don't know if there will even be enough tread left to bother putting them back on come spring. *sigh* Time to research the Michelin warranty!

Winter is 3 (probably 4 when you shouldn’t use them) months out of the year, the summer tire provides great grip. If you got the AWD you’ll be fine with AS tires. With that much power and me being the type that drives the same no matter the season, I want the tire that will provide that grip in the cold, snow and ice. I’ve been looking at winter tires already and I don’t have a Stinger yet. The wait is a bear.

Hahaha. I got so excited when I bought the car, I forgot to check. Can you blame me? Yeah I think I will pull the trigger on the Comp 2AS. I had them on my Sonata and I loved the aggressive look, ride and they are grippy. The Michelins would be nice though since they are rated #1, followed by the 2AS st #2. Overall, the are both very good. I'm having a hard time justifying spending 100 more to get a higher speed rating when I will never go that fast, but dangit Merlin just tempted me with the Michelin so everytime I attempt to click on the buy button, I keep going back and second guessing my decision.

Here's another dig at "temptation": I have gone well above 140 MPH a handful of times. Unless you have the "Y" tires, you are piling up added on risk. I may never go that fast again. But I know I can.

I still remember what the judge told me.... show up here in my court again and you'll be walking lil. Still tempted to get the Michelins though....Aaaahhhh decisions decisions

Life isn't limited to VA. I did my speeding stint in SE Oregon, on Hwy 78 and 95; with traffic shut off miles ahead (I discovered shortly after my "fun"): I literally had the highway to myself for c. half an hour. It was a totally spontaneous, serendipitous situation. I took advantage. And as I said, I know I can again; if I ever am given the chance to again.

And by the way, how can you NOT get above 100 in this car? You must not gun it to pass anyone. Getting over a hundred is so easy it's ridiculous. If you're on the freeway doing above 70 to start, and you move out and around somebody, or a line up of somebodies, by the time you're back in your lane you are coming back down from 100+. Or at least that's how it works with me! (I don't do this often, I hasten to add.)

How was the Comp 2AS on the Sonata and what year Sonata are you running? I got some General G-Max AS05 on the Hybrid and they ride quite nicely and makes the car feels sporty. I see them on TR in sizes to fit the Stinger with a W rating, don't know if I'll get to the max speed in a Stinger in the states but they were darn good on the Optima in the triple digit numbers. Yeah, this car is setup quite well and quiet enough that you don't realize when you hit that number. With the lowering springs it's even better. Been thinking about finding a matched set of shocks and springs for it, maybe the 2019 Optima SX setup might fit.

Was thinking of getting a winter setup but with the deals on the AWD and the fact you can only get the heated wheel on the AWD, means sticking with AS for our region. What would be annoying if if this rainy weather we have been getting all year turns in to weeks on end of 12+ inches of snow. That's when I'd have to spring for a 18" setup with snows.

I had a 2015 sonata 2.0t sport limited. They were very sticky. I used to be able to chirp my wheels on take off, but not with this. They just grip and go. I felt very confident in the rain too. I was comparing the comp as2 with the gmax. The only reason I didnt fo with them is because some people complained about the growling sound of the tire. Not sure if your heard it. Otherwise, they seem very capable tires.
