I love you Stinger, but I went another way.

It was an incredibly tough choice but I ended up passing on the Stinger GT in favor of a different car.

Your car is a beast and I'm happy for all the new owners. I'm very excited to see where the Stinger goes in the next few years, and maybe take another crack at in when this lease is up.

I’m sorry you’re missing out on all the fun and maybe you’ll get luckier next time.;) Best of luck to you and enjoy your new “different car” lol j/k.:p

If your happy with what you got that’s all that matters. If you don’t mind me asking, what did you end up getting?

Nothing wrong with another choice, but we do have to know what you went with, lol.

Hey MashBoss (same name on Leasehackr btw?), I just did the same thing.

I ended up with a new ‘17 Kia Cadenza Limited. Keeping it in the Kia family, but going a different direction. Reasons vs the Stinger were the following: 1) price. The Cadenza, while having a similar sticker price to a GT1, leases for $200 a month less. 2) passenger volume. With two kids in bulky car seats, the palatial backseat of the Cadenza is perfect. I’m 6’3”, so having killer legroom right now is crucial for me. 3) features. 360 camera, rear sun shades, panoramic moonroof, wireless phone charging, etc are all nice to have.

All in all I went boring Dad car. I think in the future though, the stinger will be in my garage.

I'm 6'2" 335 and have plenty of room in the drivers seat. It's just me and my wife so it wasn't really a matter of decision except for if I could deal with the car daily, being a disabled vet. I don't have any problems getting in or out of the car, and am VERY comfy driving.

Glad to hear you kept it in the Kia family at least, and I know you'll enjoy the Cadenza. I got to test drive one way back in December when the Korean model Stinger was making the dealership rounds here in SC. Dam nice and comfy car and I'd still take one over a BMW/MB any day.

Why a 17 MY? 19s should be out in a couple of months. Was it a dealership leftover?

Yeah it was a brand new ‘17, like 35 miles on it, and since there are no changes coming to the 19s, I went with the ‘17 and got a really good deal on it. The dealer discounted the car 17%, plus the 12,500 in lease cash on the car. They took my Forte with 10 payments left on the lease, and even rolling in 1k in negative equity, my lease payment is under 400 a month with zero down. On a 47k sticker, I couldn’t pass that up.

That is actually a good deal.

also, kudos to you for putting your family first - I was weighing up between a Cadenza and Stinger also, but nope, not this time, it's me first this time.

I’ve got a 2017 cadenza technology and it’s amazing but now I have a new stinger gt as well... the cadenza is so nice inside/out and all the features are awesome

Yeah, the money factor and residual on the car are absolutely terrible, which makes it hard to lease well, but the lease cash and discount were aggressive enough to make it work. If I’d been even on my trade, my monthly payment including tax would have been like 365/month. Even so, I’m happy to pay $400 a month for the car given the situation.

In three years when this lease is up, assuming both my kids are in boosters rather than big ass seats, the stinger will make it back to my short list for sure. One thing I’ve discovered in this process, I am a Kia person. The only thing I liked more than the Cadenza was the G80, but it wasn’t worth another $100-200 a month depending on the model. Every other brand I drove, I didn’t like. I drove the new Camry, new Accord, new Mazda 6, the Acura TLX, and a handful of other cars. For me, the Kia just kept winning out. Their cars are far from perfect (no one is perfect), but I feel most at home in a kia interior, and love the way they design their cars inside and out.

I am with you on this. I like Kia's design in most of their recent models.

Looking at how Kia is doing lately, give a few years and it's going to be exactly like what Toyota and Honda did to the US and European markets a few decades ago. Interesting to see how the Korean automotive industry develops from here. They sure came a long way, their earlier cars were horrendous and even that's an understatement.

Yes but does it make you smile when you drive it? Always thought cadenza was a name for a piece of office furniture. I wish you well with your new (but boring sorry) purchase. Hopefully you will trade it on a newer stinger in future.

Honestly, many parts of it do make me smile when I drive it. When I walk up to it and unlock it, get in, etc. I am struck at how good looking the car is. I love the new Cadenza vertical slat grill. I love the 360 camera in the car, that definitely makes me smile. It’s not some insane driving machine, but coming from a Forte, the V6 power is welcome. And all of the active safety tech and the tech in general make me smile, not to mention the quilted, nappa seats and killer sound system. Also, my lease payment being 250 a month lower than the lowest GT2 payment I’ve seen here makes me smile as well :)

The Cadenza is a sweet looking car and is very nice inside. I would probably be driving one of those next year if the Stinger hadn't come out.

I left the Cadenza for the Stinger. I do miss some of the features (it's SO loaded). Now that my son is close to getting his license, I didn't need the family car anymore. I'm happy now. I was also happy with the Cadenza. It's hard to lose as those are both great cars.

Im very happy then, that’s the point about a car it’s the emotion!

I think you made the right call, that's heck of deal on a nice car that's probably better suited to your needs. My daughter is 11 and still on the short side but she complains about getting in and out with the low roof line. If your kids are still in car seats, I can imagine it would be a chore to put the seats in and out along with the kids.

I have kids in booster seats and it’s no problem in the stinger ... def less leg room than my cadenza but they prefer the faster car :)

The biggest problem I've faced from having a kid in a booster seat is that since his little legs aren't long enough to bend with the seat his feet rest up against the back of my seat.

When I first got the car I had the easy exit feature on for my seat and he was basically crushed when I turned the car off.

(He's now 4 inches shorter :p)
