Seeking How To How to change the Weatherstrip around the door frame

The dealer wants $400+ to change the weatherstrip around the driver door frame. I would like to do it myself. Refer to attached image. Do I have to remove that trim next to the weatherstrip? That trim goes all around the door. Do I need glue for the weatherstrip?

I am fairly sure that you just need to pull it off and press the new one on.

Tool-less replacement. No adhesive required


The weather strip usually goes over, not under the interior plastic.

This random video from YouTube shows a guy who removed the plastic and reinstalled the plastic and was then trying to get the weather stripping over the plastic.

Just pull it off the pinch weld and push on the new one. Couldn't be simpler. The only "challenge" is lining it up. Get the joint where they melt the ends together in the same place and just go around the door frame. It will seem like there's too much and you're left with a little hump. Just push it into the door frame and it will settle into place. 5 mins if you take your time.
Get the correct part number then just search for it. Several dealerships and some suppliers in Korea will sell direct for much less.

I've removed and reinstalled a replacement myself. It really is as easy as pulling off the old one and pushing the new one on and then "slapping" it in to place all the way around.

When you're searching for the correct part just keep in mind there are door side and body side seals so you don't get the wrong one by accident.

When installing just lay the new one out so you can see the bends then line up the rubber joint with there the old was. You can see the joint on your picture where your camera wire is.

Reckon you're after part number 82110B2000, sure you can pick one up for easily less than a quarter of what the stealers are quoting

I have done this myself for the driver's side weatherstrip. (RHS) in Oz.

It takes about a minute. Two if you want to to be pedantic.

Pick a spot, typically a side and just pull it out with your fingers. It will then remove easily all the way around.

There is no glue or sealant required.

Line it up with the old one on the ground then pick a spot and push the new one back in.

They cost around $185 from a dealer here so it doesn't seem worth the minute it takes to replace it.
