Hello all,
I've had my Stinger for a couple months now and i recently purchased a used JB4, DIY CAI, and Denso plugs. I'm 100% new to tuning and really have no idea what I'm doing to be honest. But how safe is to use the JB4 and tune it? What are the chances of me blowing up my car and voiding the warranty? I'm aware of the law that says the manufacture has to prove that the tune was the reason that the problems happened but from what I've been told any dealer would be able to plug into the ECU and easily see if the car has been messed with. I'm always running 93 octane and from what I've read I will not be going higher than map2 and would probably use map1 for daily driving. I just want to make sure I'm not going to damage my car and mess of the warranty.

Map 1 and 2 are perfectly safe. Don't sweat it.

The higher maps get more interesting, but even then you're most likely to throw an overboost code and go into limp mode than to actually damage something.

Ok thanks, and is it true that the dealer would easily be able to see if i tuned the car or not even if i uninstalled the jb4 before bringing it to them if I did run into an issue? Even if unrelated

They would never know if you uninstalled it before going.

The JB4 is a relatively safe tuning system with extra systems built in to help prevent the ugliest outcomes, but it's important to always keep in mind, more boost, more power, more risks. So always choose your performance map accordingly. :)

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...
I did the very same thing you did: bought a used JB4, plugs (went with the HKS's at the time and regapped them down to .024), and intakes. I only use high quality 93 octane fuel. I actually use map 2 as my daily drive. I have tried map 3 and even dyno'd it on map 3, but the car does not like the extra boost as currently configured. It correctly adjusted down the performance. As configured, I was able to get 377 wheel HP and 427 lbft of torque on map 2 at 82F. Perfectly safe assuming you do put in those plugs. I did not immediately do so, and cracked 2 plugs in the process. Assuming you have the bluetooth connection (if not go get it right away), you may need to reach out to the app support people to get it associated with your JB4 unit. There is a sort of pairing process. This did take a couple emails to the developer as you will find the app and the JB4 have different support groups. Not usually an issue unless you expect to be able to call someone to walk you through fixing an issue, which I have discovered is unreasonable in the the automotive world.

Truly the best bang for the buck mod you can do. Terry absolutely follows the 80/20 rule of product development, which is fine with me. You certainly can get more aggressive in your tuning product purchases, but if you are not trying to be the utmost whatever, you will be just fine with it. And even then, the fastest stinger is using it as part of his setup. Because it can add mild performance enhancements, it is extremely safe on map 1 or 2.
