I'm all for little incentives to show you got the highest trim of a car, but I prefer it to be things like exclusive paint colors or something. The fact that they made the base Stinger purposefully less attractive than the GT with that different front and the basic lights I think was a mistake. It's not the kind of thing I'd really notice on the road from a distance but would drive me nuts if I owned it and knew there was no actual reason aside from being penalized for wanting the more fuel-efficient version.

I am totally with you on this. I wouldn't mind paying for 'exclusive' feature as an upselling strategy, but I feel what Kia has done with the Stinger is designed it in the best way they can, then stripped some 'features' out and made that a base car, hoping you'd buy the higher trim.

For me, it's the gear knob. The short stubby ones look like what the designer intended to include in the stinger, but then there are these T-shaped ones which look so out of place. So I knew I gotta get the 'real' stinger's knob.

Don't all the brands pretty much do the same thing?

Good point - when I first learned about the Stinger (in Korea), it was announced that all stingers' exterior would look the same for both the 2.0 and 3.3 with no special badge for the 3.3, except the top 3.3 trim which will have a GT badge at the back. Even the base 2.0 will have all dark-chrome accents and same front grill, etc.

Didn't know that they made it different for the US. Therefore, since I heard about all trim will look identical first - then hearing that they will take stuff out for the US market disappoints me more than if I didn't know about how it is in Korea. Since Korea was the Stinger's first market, I feel they must have changed the strategy after.

I'm sure some brands do this, but not all. Was also looking at the Renault Talisman (Samsung-Renault SM6) and the highest trim has a limited dark-purple paint to differentiate itself from the lower trims. I guess it depends if you feel getting a top trim is an 'upgrade' over the base trim or the base trim is the 'downgrade' version of the top trim.

The difference used to be much more obvious but car designs have evolved really nicely over the past few years - to the point where even the bland, mundane (Camry) is looking quite sporty...

I'm 75% stinger but want to check out the G70 as well so waiting for that and my pay rise.

I'm not happy with the lease or finance deals here in Canada, so will probably buy outright on my credit line (much cheaper than finance deals).

What is this about de-contenting? Does it affect the Canadia GT Limited ?

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...

Nah, you guys got the good stuff. They screwed the US market. Took away some features that everyone else got for some reason.
