How do you set your rearview mirror?

I've never had a car with such a small rearview window (except the softtop ob a miata). I'm trying to figure out the optimal center rearview mirror so I can see the most urgent stuff behind me. Initialy, I had it set such that I would see the full rear window, but with that setting, I could see what was right behind me, but not further back.

So, I have settled on essentially angling the review mirror, so I see the top half of of the rear window. With this angle, I am able to see traffic further back at the cost of not being able to see right behind me, which overall I am ok with. I will try to upload a picture soon.

So, for those who have had sports car or cars with such a small review window, how do you set you center readview mirror?

Hum... I set up the rear view mirror dead centers and I think I can still see the traffic just fine. I'm about 6"3, maybe your height may affect the angle.

Also, this may be due to my driving habit. I tend to look at the side mirrors much more than the rear mirror. I learned to drive with this estate van and it used to always have stuff it in, so I had to use the side mirrors.

I find the rear view mirror obstructs my forward vision. To me its set to low on the window. I have the seat set at its lowest as well. Persons taller than me would have more of a problem?

I’m 6”3” seat also at the lowest setting. The mirror height is borderline for me but ok. I dove an A3 for a while and I had to constantly bend forward to look under it.

Ya, the mirror is fine, it's the rear hatch window that's small that I'm having an issue with.

Ya, I agree, it all depends on what you are used to. I'm 5 8. I'm used to looking at all 3 with center rear allowing me to see as far back as my old eyes can see but with this car, I can't. I just need to get used to that. I just didn't know if there was an optional setting.

Yes really have to trust the mirrors and the lane change warning light's. After awhile im not as reliant on the back window.

@bugaboo90 if you have Problems with the rear window, you haven't drove a car with a 2 pece rear window.I can tell you That is a pain, cause you can't see anything in the mirror
but I think you'll get used to it pretty quick

I don't recall the mirror as a problem when I took my very short test drive. On my other cars, I set the inside mirror to dead center which usually shows the full width of the back glass. My side mirrors are turned out far enough that I can see a car on my flank. With the blind spot warning in the Stinger, I may modify those positions a bit, but I always turn and check beside me before changing lanes, anyway.

Yes, I'm unhappy, not being able to see further back through my rear-view mirror. That said, I've only fiddled with it a little. I'm used to rear-view mirrors that can articulate at the back of the mirror as well as at the mount on the windshield, as well. So adjusting it was a two step process. First was to angle the arm down as far as possible. And then I would adjust the mirror itself. In my brief attempts to fiddle with it, either there is no articulation at the mount point or it's already adjusted/angled as far down as possible. I'll look at it more, but I definitely feel it could use a lot of improvement.

The poor view out the back is expected since it's a hatch/sportback. The S5 SB/440i GC have a similar problem.

I've honestly gotten used to it, just have to look over shoulders more often. Also, the BSD and LKA really helps.

i just purchase a gt1 and anytime I turn off the car, the drivers side seat moves all the way back. I have programed my car with my seat preference however, is still moves back every time I turn off the car. The seat goes into my preferred seating when I turn on the car.

Any suggestions. Ty

I think that's the way it's designed to help you get in/out without tearing up the seat bolster with your belt loops and such. I also thought you can defeat that in the menu? Maybe not ... still waiting for my car ....

You can turn this off in user menu. Will try to find the exact setting.

I believe that you can change the setting from sliding back far or sliding back not-as-far. LOL I don't recall there being a way to turn it off. I find it handy for getting in and out and have mine at the not-as-far setting.

I'm more concerned with wear on the driver's seat bolster than getting in and out. And I suspect the Nappa leather is less durable than the "regular" leather.
