How BMW and Mercedes are hurting their image ....................

I think the S Class is a stretch for comparison sake ..................you've spent too much time in lock down and getting grumpy ..............like the rest of us !:p

Yes, so very true!! Just having a little fun. Two weeks working at home in healthy quarantine gets to a guy.

LOL stupid to compare an S class which is starts at 111.735 USD to a car that is about 46,000 USD.

Except, I bought my 2016 S550 with 33,000 miles on her for $42,700 plus taxes

38% residual value over over 4 years, and I thought my purchase was bad at 43% lol.

Wow! You're rather full of yourself, lol.

Now, the Stinger GT is a lot of car for the money, and a good looking car at that. However, it lacks in the areas that matter most which are elite performance, ride quality, and handling compared to Audi, BMW, and MB.

Those with a taste for the best won't be choosing a Kia Stinger over the Mercedes S Class in my lifetime.

S class is 4-5x the price ; it better be nicer! But to say it lacks in performance to a COMPARABILITY equipped AND priced German auto is very shortsighted.....the Stinger isn't meant to match up with AMG, RS or M series....those are completely precision made machines....put a C/E, A or whatever bmw number you want in our price range up against it......I'll wait

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...
Yes, and this is precisely how they are hurting their image. What a person thinks of, imagines of a MB, is an experience like the S-Class; Special Class. Yet, when they sit in a lower end model such as the A Class, CLA, C Class for the first time they come to think of Mercedes Benz as less impressive.

BTW, I love my S Class sedan and it is the Flagship of all personal automobiles.

The point of this thread is that German luxury brands are hurting their image but making cheaper cars to compete against things like the Stinger GT2.

You compared an S class to a stinger....no?

No. However, my 2016 S550 Original MSRP was $111K, just a little over 2x the MSRP of the Stinger GT2 AWD, not 4-5x. Furthermore, I traded my 2018 GT2 with 25,000 miles on it for my S550 with 33,500 miles. I got $38,000 for my Stinger trade and paid $42,700 for my pre-owned S550.

I consider it a bargain to get a low-mileage S550 for close to the same price as a low-mileage Stinger. Dollar for dollar spent, it is a much nicer car. Now, that isn't a knock against the Stinger! If my neck injury hadn't made the Stinger a literal pain to drive, I wouldn't have the S550.

Sorry about your neck injury .....seriously
But you did state that those with a taste for the best won't chose a Stinger over an S class.....so don't deny that you made the comparison....

The S class coupe amg63 is kinda my dream car btw !

I think the biggest kicker right now about Germans making "cheap" cars to appeal to a larger market, diluting the luxury factor of their cars, is the fact that even the cheap cars are a tad bit expensive for what they are. Don't get me wrong, I'm quite liking my M240i, but I still think it was about 10K more than it should have been, IMO.
