Have you seen any great replacement options out there. Better material vents that will at least make them LOOK more real. From someone who knows way more about customization than me

1 - They are super duper fake; just for cosmetics...

2 - I see people going with aftermarket carbon fiber...

3 - Aftermarket hoods can have actual openings for those vents...

The only aftermarket open hood vents that I have seen are in S. Korea: don't know of anyone over here who has them. Basically, you run the open hood vents when you are in dry conditions; and if you are going to wash your car or be in stormy conditions, you attach these magnetic collector boxes under the hood; and water drains forward and down behind the radiator via extended rubber hoses. Obviously (when you look under your hood) you can see that a shop will have to cut away the underside of the hood below the "vents" in order to make the conversion.

The two carbon fiber aftermarket hoods I've checked into (Seibon being the current provider Seibon TS-Style Carbon Fiber Hood for Kia Stinger (HD18KIST-TS) ) do not drain, as near as I can tell. K8 Stinger Store posted this pic recently of the underside of a Seibon cf hood: no drains can I see: in fact, I was told that you undo "six or seven" screws to take that "collector" basin off. (Heh!? I don't think so.) Also, it doesn't really matter if there are little grillwork screens, if the underside of the hood is just as blocked off to the engineroom as the fake Kia hood "vents"?? No engineroom heat is getting vented out through a Seibon cf hood either.

Personally I'd rather just have 2 paint matched panels and match the contours of the hood instead of the fake vents.

I've wondered if an OE hood can be imported from Korea that is sans hood "vents". I have seen pictures of Stingers without any hood "vents" at all.

Are you sure about that? I haven't seen any ventless hoods.

Yes, definitely in my first months on here a pic of one sighted here in the US was posted. And apparently it is an option in Korea. I saw a pic a couple of days ago of a car transport truck with Stingers on it, in S. Korea, without hood vents (but I'm not finding it again just now). I just ran into this pic on Reddit:

Quite functional.

Their function is to impress the sales force and make them happy. Because the salespeople believe that anyone who will believe they are your friend and they are arguing their boss into an unprofitable deal will more likely buy and pay extra for a car with fake hood vents.

How much heat are you actually expecting to remove from some tiny holes in the hood? Try opening the whole hood after running the car hard. It won’t cool down quickly even with the hood wide open.

I also laugh when I see someone with a carbon fiber hood with hood vents and they still have the engine cover on. Do you know how much heat the engine cover traps in there? Just feel the underside of it sometime.

Trying to remove heat from the engine bay through small holes is pointless. It won’t make enough difference at all. If you are worried about your open air intake sucking in hot air then just simply don’t use an open air intake. Use a true sealed cold air intake with aftermarket snorkels.

Yes, and where does the water go? You don't even have a removable tray.
