Hood and trunk badge overlay?

There are probably many members on here like myself, who want to change their hood and trunk badges to the 'E' or 'K' style, but don't have the confidence/expertise to do badge removal.
So, would it be possible for SEL to consider the possibility to manufacture 'Stick on badges', like the centre caps /steering wheel badges?
Anyone else interested in in this?

it's been done and looks ridiculous. way too cheap looking for a nice car like the stinger.

Sorry, but I cant agree. I put on overlays on all 7 spots. The actual "K" on the emblem is only so-so but the caps are all metal with a 3 year warranty.They lookfine and cover the existing badges fine.

Like you, I won't do it my self. I will go to my dealer and ask them to do it. If they won't do it, I just go to the next Paint/car wrap shop and ask them.
Because those guys do it all the time, when they repaint or wrap a bumper.

Guys im telling ya its easy peasy......get dental floss or fishing line and go for it.....Hell I didn't even use the hair drier.....take a lil goo be gone and use a syringe or cotton swab to dribble it at the top of emblem.....place some blue painters tape right up next to emblem firstly....and some toweling on paint down low so it suks up the goo be gone if any gets down there.....be patient....start sawing from top and from bottom.....you will get the feel of how the adhesive is coming apart......use some old credit cards to slide under the emblem also,,,,the cards give leverage....once the emblem starts pulling away you know its ready to go Wash

I have basically no experience working on cars up to this point. I changed my badges with basically no issue once i really got serious about it.

I took Blue painters tape and taped all around the badge as close to the edge as possible.

Take 20lb test fishing line and insert behind the badge. I didnt do much "sawing" motions i mainly just pulled one side of the line while keeping pressure. Did this for about 15ish minutes till the badges basically fell off.

Since we are using bigger line and not much sawing, there was a substantial amount of old adhesive remaining. For this i used goo-gone and alot of patients. Once i FINALLY got the sticky off, i used some water and a fine cloth to wipe the area clean. Got a bit of turtle wax buffing stuff and just buffed the area with a small foam pad.

Cleaned if all off again and just applied the badges. Thats it!

It honestly took me longer to center and be happy with the stinger logo in the back than everything else. Again using painters tape to place the foam stencil.

Forgot to mention, I used some clear silicone from home depot to fill in the holes left behind. I also had to use some wirecutters to snip off the bottom post of the front "E" badge as its on the wrong side for the American versions.

Get the E if you must get rid of the Kia emblem. Pay a body shop a couple hours labour if not comfortable doing it yourself. Looks so great with the E. The E is also exclusive to the Stinger ( I think). Personally, I would keep the KIA over the K emblem

I've also no experience doing any work like this and had no problems front or back - it takes a bit of work to get the residue off but I never felt the paint was in any danger with my scraping with a credit card and goo gone.

Also found lining up the stinger text quite easy. It can only cover the holes at one point and it comes attached to a template that you can centre no problem.

You know, after paying $45K+ for a car, and on a car that already has reported "paint issues", the last thing I want to hear out of my mouth is "whoops". I have used 3M VHB tape in my work for years and I know how much adhesion it has. In a lot of cases, the glue is stronger than the paint, to say nothing of my general lack of attention to details. Yes, you can do it yourself to save money or pay money to have someone else do it or take my path of least resistance and just buy overall emblems (made from metal with a 3 year warranty for $70) and call it good.
Remember the saying in business (and life, I suppose) "there is no right or wrong, just varying degrees of success". Good luck on your choice.

That’s very Zen. Probably not something you want to hear from your surgeon just before undergoing open heart surgery though.
