• PLEASE! It is VERY important that this area is not used for the discussion of technical issues with your Stinger. This section is for posting about regional-specific things like Stinger clubs, events, local vendor or dealer recommendations, KiaStinger.com member sightings, etcetera... In other words, I do NOT want people to need to scour through several different sections to find answers about their heads up display. That's why there's a section dedicated specifically to discussions like that. THANK YOU!

Holden's Troll Police

Hi Manaz and welcome to the forum. The adaptive Eibach springs are fine with the adaptive suspension, the ride is still smooth and the springs have a different recovery rate than the stock ones they don't bounce or wallow as much and have a luxury feel to them.

As @Stinger GT SS says make sure you have a proper wheel alignment done to avoid excessive camber. Just one thing to bare in mind the car has a low slung stance as standard so as far as handling goes mod 1 should probably be sway bars, then see if you want the springs.

Thanks for the welcome!

Glad to hear that there are springs to suit the adaptive suspension.

How much camber adjustability is in the Stinger stock? Is there a good set of suspension alignment settings floating around that people are using as a template (I helped work something out for the VW Bora 4Motion chassis way back in the day, based on what were considered "ideal" R32 Golf settings for street driven cars).

Low slung is fine - I'm actually more interested in the better compression control that the Eibach springs give more than the lowness (though I think the car sits too high stock from a cosmetics/aesthetics perspective). My current car (Liberty GT Spec.B - on Bilsteins) and the track car I currently have access to (road-registered MY02 WRX STI) are plenty low - the Liberty doesn't have a front splitter so that I don't have to worry about ripping it off :)

I'm hoping that with good pads, rotors and fluid that the Brembos won't be an issue for braking - suspension and handling comes first as mods, before I start chasing power... :)

Go with what you’re comfortable with mate but the down side to the Holdens is the customer service and warranty is shit compared to Kia and if you get the SSV they haven’t been built since 2017.

Yep, I'm aware of this - Holden also pre-registered a bunch of them to limit the length of the 7 year warranty they were offering, which was a shit move IMHO.

I love the SSV but my preference would be sedan over wagon. I’m sure the sedan tow capacity is the same as the wagon if that’s a consideration but I went with the Stinger based on cost, warranty, looks, age of the vehicle.

Yeah, I'm more interested in what can go in the back of the wagon than any towing capacity differences (there's no difference as I understand it)

I didn’t see the point in buying a “new” car that wasn’t actually new even if it had never been driven before. As for the current model Commodore I sat in one and kicked it over but didn’t bother going for a test drive, I don’t like the look of them, didn’t want front wheel drive, and the Stinger GT specs blow the VXR out of the water so it was no competition. The difference in handling between the two would be the VXR is AWD and the Stinger is RWD so you’re comparing apples to oranges

I was ready to buy in late 2017, but the dealerships were holding onto the cars for more than RRP, and there was no way I was going to line their pockets in that way.

I'm well aware of the differences between AWD and RWD (my current car is a permanent AWD, and the previous car was haldex-based AWD). I learned to drive in RWD cars (admittedly not a powerful as the Stinger) - what did impress me was the way the VXR "shrunk" down around the driver when pushed - the AWD is actually better than I expected for a reactive setup, and it really felt half a class smaller. The Stinger is faster, no doubt, and definitely has RWD drivetrain characterstics (I wonder what the AWD version overseas is like, given it's based on a naturally RWD car), and it didn't "hide" its size as well as the VXR did - not that this is necessarily a bad thing, it's just a difference.

If they pre-registered then they are used vehicles, not new.

Given that Holden have done two grubby things you’ve mentioned in this post why would you give them your hard earned cash.

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...
Your'e polite, ours was called the " Crapydore " due to it's frequent ability to break down and leave us stranded
I know, I was just referring to the new incarnation that Holden are offering as it is neither a Holden nor a Commodore no matter what sort of spin GM Executives put on it.

I'm not likely to at this stage. More and more I'm finding reasons not to go there. Another one: Kia braked towing capacity: 1500kgs, SSV Commodore braked towing capacity: 1600kgs. The difference is so marginal it's not worth worrying about.

Well your not alone about finding a reason not to go to a Holden Dealership, thousands of Aussies already have & their Sales Staff are all in therapy because of the isolation & being deprived of human contact...lol.

Yeah, they're really not doing very well lately, are they. I believe this is what happens when you treat your customers like dirt...

Last I heard, the Toyota Hilux alone outsold the entire Holden product offering in February, and the Ford Ranger wasn't far off doing so either...

Holden sales are down 25% from last year & still going south, not a comfortable position.

Yep. I do wonder if they're not a "dead man walking" as far as the local market is concerned...
Yep they are finished here locally, GMNA showed how out of touch they are with their customers & have proved they did not either know or care about how iconic the brand was here with Australians, the damage is done & it will take a generation to forget.

Yep heard that, they will just amalgamate dealerships with other Motor Groups then stick it in the back corner of the lot to wither & die.
