Holden declares war on online haters and trolls.
It works with the GM decision makers who have totally lost the plot, they have dropped the ball on progress & all the other carmakers have overrun them & they have just now pulled their heads out of their bums, wiped the poo out of their eyes & wondered “what’s just happened”.Hmmm
Make good cars in a range of trims and models that are popular = good reviews.
Import shitboxes that no one wants to drive = bad reviews.
And somehow that’s our fault? How does that work?
That’s what should have happened when they ceased manufacturing here in OZ altogether.Wish the brand would just die.
Since you mentioned it, I was one of those who lost their job when Holden ceased manufacturing here in Melbourne, over two years ago since then, I have discount on new Holdens, so in November 2017 I decided to support Holden by purchasing my Kia StingerGT....That’s what should have happened when they ceased manufacturing here in OZ altogether.
It would have been a more dignified end to the Holden name & then just rebrand everything & all the dealerships as Chevrolet, plus the current incarnation of the Commodore should have been called sometihing else, this would have a been more appectable way to most Aussies rather than continue business with the BS that they are doing now.
Totally agree, I’ve been a Holden man all my life & GM will never get a $1 from me ever again.A mate of mine has a new VXR all wheel drive and it's a great car, but I'm a purist, I've been both Ford 1st and Holden 2nd (Proud Aussie) fan for as long as I could walk and I have had several of both brands in my life, I could never be polarised Ford or Holden because I have had both. I went to Bathurst for the first time in 1972 with my dad, and been back a dozen times more. But what Holden and Chevrolet did to Australia is unforgivable and as such the car should have been sold as a OPEL with the Holden brand deceased. I'll never forget and never forgive.![]()
He tells it like it is & no BS.Cadogan cracks me up, angry little man syndrome, but I actually like him for calling out the shitty car industry in Australia.
2017 builds still on the showroom floor, my local Holden dealership has 2017 SSV still for sale brand new. When you go on the website and select Commodore and year model for new cars it only lets you pick 2017 or 2018. No option for 2019. That being said I’d still rake an SSV over that Opel shitbox any day. It’s a shame Holden is going down the toilet, I had a Commodore for 15 years, loved that car and over 270,000km later she was still as good and reliable as the day I bought her back in 2003. They stuffed their brand the day they stopped Australian production.I looked at getting a new RS-V wagon instead of the Stinger, as it's got a bigger boot.
But the whole new commodore vibe has gone totally toxic.
2017 builds still on the showroom floor in 2019, plus the the whole Factory orders stopped; it just doesn't inspire any resale value confidence.

Get the Stinger GT & add the Eibach Sway Bars, handling is greatly improved as total package + more power & more punch for your buck than the Opeldore.I'm considering a Stinger (GT) at present. I drove a "Commodore" VXR back to back with the Stinger GT, and it's really not a bad car.
But it is *not* a Commodore. It's an Insignia. Holden made a massive mistake there. And as much as it wasn't a bad car (it handled well, it actually shrank around you in the twisties better than the Stinger did), the money they're asking for it is stupid, and as noted, you're looking at picking up a ~2yo chassis if you buy one.
The other car I'm now going to cross-shop the Stinger with is another 2017 model Commodore - an SSV Redline wagon. It's a *much* closer comparison - the wagon has more cargo-carrying capacity, and will likely be a better towing vehicle (there are reasons this is important), but again, if I can actually find one, I'm looking at a 2yo vehicle if I go down that path.
The Stinger's looking more and more likely.![]()

For starters just do F & R Sways first, it works. The VXR won't be happening.
Handling mods are my initial concern - I've heard good things about the Eibach springs as well as the sway-bars.
How well does the adaptive suspension play after being lowered slightly on replacement springs?
Welcome @Manaz , to our stingerforum, which colour are you considering for your Stinger should you purchase it, can you please click on your Username at the top of the page, click on "Personal Details", then scroll down and type in which city your from, thanx. The Stinger's looking more and more likely.![]()
Go with what you’re comfortable with mate but the down side to the Holdens is the customer service and warranty is shit compared to Kia and if you get the SSV they haven’t been built since 2017. I love the SSV but my preference would be sedan over wagon. I’m sure the sedan tow capacity is the same as the wagon if that’s a consideration but I went with the Stinger based on cost, warranty, looks, age of the vehicle. I didn’t see the point in buying a “new” car that wasn’t actually new even if it had never been driven before. As for the current model Commodore I sat in one and kicked it over but didn’t bother going for a test drive, I don’t like the look of them, didn’t want front wheel drive, and the Stinger GT specs blow the VXR out of the water so it was no competition. The difference in handling between the two would be the VXR is AWD and the Stinger is RWD so you’re comparing apples to orangesI'm considering a Stinger (GT) at present.
