first time user, so i'm not to sure that i'll do this forum thing right.
i finally got rid of my 16 year ford :(. i just purchased 2017 gt stinger :).
i noticed today while taking a 350k drive that the audio volume kept intermittently dropping by at least half quite regularly. this would happen 2 or 3 times over a 10 -15 second period or once every 30 seconds or not at all for 2 - 3 minutes. very random but always the same thing. volume would drop by at least half and appeared the sound only came from only the rear speakers. this drop would only last for a few seconds and then return to normal. bluetooth was connected via my andriod A51 samsung. i was unable to ascertain whether the problem occurred during normal radio operation. i would love to hear back from any one who has experienced the same issue or may know of a solution. thanks guys and gals. perkssy

Could you be getting a notification e.g. speed warning / notification from your phone but the sound is decreased / muted? When I get a speed camera warning notification, the sound drops for a short while and only comes from the rear speakers so sounds like that may be what you are experiencing?

Alternatively, it could be one of those "rear speaker fade" cases. Haven't heard of one on the newer models; but back in 2018 several members complained that the sound would fade to the back speakers only; that would make the volume sound like it had lost half. Some had their entire "radio" replaced; others fixed it with a "reflash"; and others simply had it stop doing it (or become so rare that it wasn't any sort of deal breaker).

I'm having the same issue on my G70...I posted about it in the Genesis forum on Friday, but my post has not been approved yet, so I haven't had any replies. I figured I'd check over here and saw this post.

I first noticed my issue a couple of weeks ago, using Apple Carplay. I replaced the cable, but the problem remained. Upon further troubleshooting, I found it happens using all sources...Carplay, Bluetooth, and with FM radio. I tested it with and without the phone physically connected, and it happened either way. I also flashed the firmware/navigation to the latest version, but it hasn't helped.

Did you spill bbq sauce on the steering wheel volume controls? Fess up. You are in your car didn’t you. Dirty boy.

hey bro, thanks for the reply, sorry mines taken this long. i work away from sydney regularly and quite often have no wifi. interesting thoughts re speed alerts etc, could well be this is the case. i will monitor more closely the drop out times with incoming notifications times on my phone in future.. thanks for the tip.

thanks for your reply. the interesting thing is the sound drops only a a couple of seconds and then returns to normal and quite spasmodically as if a inaudible incoming message came in.

Ah, that is not the rear fade issue, then. Your theory is plausible: sort of in the same realm as when our sensors get triggered by neighboring sensors; invisible interference, in other words. But, so far you're the only one to mention this specific phenomenon.

Put your phone on silent/DND. And close nav apps. I bet it'll stop.

Seriously, this happened to 2 friends of mine. Their phone was getting notifications but not properly routing the notification sounds thru the speakers. It would cut the music down to half volume and then cut it back on to normal.

Remember the volume control on the steering wheel only affects the media volume. The volume knob on the dash affects the volume of whatever source happens to be playing at the time you turn the knob. I suggest waiting with your fingers on the dash knob until the volume drops, then while it is down, crank up the volume a bunch. Perhaps whatever is playing during the low volume periods is simply turned down? An alert, message from the nav system, driver warning from steering wheel, attention, lane keeping, etc., could be the culprit.

awsome. i'll try that out. please excuse my ignorance, what is DND? Do you mean close nav apps on car , phone or both?

my nav was on at the time so this could well be the issue. at the time this was occurring, i was out of sydney country driving. i have not had this occur yet in sydney driving with the nav on. all seems to be normal, ie: volume drops, message comes through, volume returns. i will go for another country drive in a couple of weeks and see if the problem reoccurs. thanks for your insights

no, definitely not the rear fade issue. i've had another post who claims 2 of his friends have had the same issue. he seems to think the issue could well be connected to the nav system.
