Hey everyone,

Finally got the JB4 installed on Wednesday, looking for help reading. I'd like to better understand what it is I'm seeing here. For the sake of the graphs, RPM is /100.

Fuelling looks fine, AFR is pretty solid, trims are clustered, but seem a little low in the shift to 3rd?

For Ign_1, I see it's often out of sync with the others, i.e. it'll often drop to 0 between shifts, while the others stay tightly clustered. Check the following graph, there are a few times it drops after a shift, but there's no obvious feeling after the shifts, and timing stabilizes right afterwards.

There's always something weird with Ign_1, note that it spikes after I drop the throttle, all of the rest stay grouped. Is Ign_1 showing some other sort of calculation that the others don't, or is there something legitimately wrong with it? I heard knock was supposed to be timing pulled in 3.5• increments? These almost always drop to zero, so my assumption is it's just something to do with the recently closed TB during shifts?

On a side note, what's everyone using to visualize their logs? I'm using google sheets, not fantastic, but it works.

Anyone interested in a better way to visualize and store their logs? I'm working on putting something together. We're always looking for the same things in the logs to gauge the health of the car, I'd like to have something pre-defined that's looking for pulled timing, trims out of sync, random deviations. I'm also looking for other peoples logs for ML training if anyone is interested in getting involved.

All insight is appreciated please and thank you

Petro94 is garbage. Canadian 94 octane fuels have ethanol and should be avoided. Shell/Costco/cantire 91 all have no ethanol. I run map 2 on 91 shell and it’s on the limits of 91, a little boostane and map2 and 3 are very stable and enjoyable.

that’s just like, your opinion man :)

I had boost cut on Map2 yesterday on Esso91, filled with Petro94 and haven’t had any issues since. I’m planning on grabbing more logs with different fuels, because no one has so far come forward with any quantitative evidence that Petro94 is garbage. It’s their 91+E10, it’s not like they’re mixing it with sand. We literally have a whole market for trying to run E30, this is just pre-mixed. Yes Ethanol has less power by volume but makes up for it by lowering IAT and reducing predetonation. I could run Esso91 and boostane, but if Esso91 wasn’t running well, but Petro94 does, that sort of answers a question doesn’t it? So I’m not sure if you’re just regurgitating the myth that Petro is bad, or if you actually have something to prove it.

In God we trust, all others must bring data.

@Terry@BMS thanks for the link, I’ve been using that for reference though do see that the Ign to zero after shifts are just that, there was one spot where other Igns other than 1 were bottoming out, but probably just the described sampling issue.

Right, they won't always line up due to differences in how 1 and 2-6 are read by the JB4.

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...
Is esso91 ethanol free?

it’s all about the data, but my C6 and my stinger ran better on shell than petro 94 locally.

A member on here had issues on Sunoco 94 that ceased on shell 91. You get the data, I’ll listen intently and hopefully we all learn something useful.

Esso91 and Shell91 are ethanol free, they put ethanol in 87 to hit their required quota for 5% ethanol on average. I’d like to go back to Esso91 for a variety of reasons, but Map2 seems pretty solid on Petro94
