Alright, so i caught some wheels on sale for labor day (square set of 20x8.5 +40 asa gt14) and while i had looked up in the threads folks running that size wheel and offset for the front at least (like the tsw’s stingerhaus used) i was kinda concerned with fitment in the rear.

So after test fitting, without tires, it looks as if the rear is fine and no issues at all, however the front looks as if the lip of the wheel is going to hit the strut. I know width and offsets make the fitment but i see stingers with 9 wides with more aggressive offsets all the time. Could this just be where the car was jacked up off the ground and when the suspension settles it may be ok? The stock 19’s on my gt are cutting it close as well after closer inspection. Just trying to figure out if i’m good to go or if i need to return the wheels to get my money back.

Get Your Wheels suggested for the front that I get 37mm offset for 9x20 using OEM lowered suspension and 32mm if I was going to use coilovers since they create more of a clearance issue.

An inch is roughly 25mm, so the math suggests you’ll be ok if I’m thinking clearly. Experience wise, I am lacking though. My wheels arrive in a month.

I’m hoping maybe it was the angle of the suspension. The wheels look great and i really dont want to send them back. I’ve been digging through the internet and keen designs which makes wheels specific for kia/hyundai has a 20x 8.5 + 40 they offer, so i assume (which could make me look to be an idiot) that my wheels should work as well.

I was under the impression that with wheels over the front 8” width, offsets greater than 35mm will cause rubbing. The larger the offset, the further inboard your wheel will be. You might just need some 5mm spacers.

Update:

tires came in on weds, took a wheel and tire to local shop for test fitting and the 8.5 +40’s work. They mounted the tire then installed on the front and had me turn full lock inboth directions and could not find any rubbing happening.

I have however already bought 5 mm spacers just to be on the safe side.Anyone have experience with them? Good, bad, indifferent? The ones i purchased were the one’s @WildBill recommended in the other offset thread from amazon. They are hub centric as well for those wondering.

If the spacers arent going to cause any issues or danger i have no problem running them. Most issues i have seen have been from the adapter style spacers that change or add another set of studs on to the vehicle.

If you can run them without spacers that would be better. I try to stay away from the spacers as much as possible. But as long as your spacers are hubcentric and they aren't the bad quality kind then you are good! But the word spacers just give me so much trauma haha

I probably should have replied on this thread as well, but the wheels worked without the spacers just fyi for future reference for anyone curious.
