3.3TT HELP! Lost a 14mm nut from rear sway bar

M10 x 1.25 JIS high strength flange nut, looks like it?

Sorry thought you wanted a M14
no worries mate, all i knew was i undid it with a 14mm socket :) I'm not a nut officiando sadly :) I'm over nuts by this stage to be fair hahhaha

Or just get it from Kia. Seriously it's less than $2 and then you'll know what you have is exactly what you need.

Stabilizer Link Nut - Kia (54559-1F000)

Thanks for the link, that's about $3 over here, lets see what it ends up being from Kia here. All i could find was ebay at around $15US with $20US+ delivery, a nut for about $55AU an expensive nut drop :) Who knows i may have to end up ordering it from that Kia dealer.. funny shit

Since the torque spec for this nut is up to 47 ft-lbs
It's not an M8

It is an M10, and very probably an M10 x 1.5 flange nut.
But it could be M10 x 1.25. I don't have one to verify with

touch wood
....in a thread about nuts ;)

Out here we usually say "knock on wood" but I've noticed most of the rest of the world says "Touch wood".

I wish you luck on either fishing out your original nut or getting a replacement. My buddy and I looked around for at least an hour trying to find it with no luck.

Good thing you didn't say "no homo".... Or you might have faced a $40k USD fine..

Like this guy.

Funny part is i wasn't even thinking of nuts like that :) I legit didnt think anyone knew that much about a nut... get your head out of the gutter mate... so shocked hehehe

Just before thanksgiving, I made two trips Down Under and visited Perth and Sydney, among other places. Beautiful country! Tried my best to spot one of those Aussie Kia Stinger Police cars I read about, but no luck.

Hope you find your nut.

$3.50 for the nut from Kia, not in stock (there's a shock), up to 2 weeks delivery.

I didn't think they would have them in stock. And i have to pay $5 for Kia Sydney to send the nut down to a Kia dealer in Adelaide :) You would think seeing I'm paying for the delivery they would send it directly to me. I'll be tying cotton around this one just in case my fat hands drop it again.

Ended up cannibalising one from under the hood as Kia still haven't got my order in, so atleast it's drivable now.

Thanks for all the tips.

Police Stingers are with the Queensland and Northern Territory police force. You wouldn't have seen any in Perth (Western Australia) or Sydney (Nsw). Although Sydney has one promotional vehicle based in Parramatta.

Can you believe I still don't have the nut i ordered from the KIA dealer :) Almost a month. :) hopeless.

That's pretty sad. I'm assuming they're sending it from South Korea by carrier pigeon? Although honestly if they did it would probably be there by now.

It's just a M10 nut. Even in Australia, I cannot imagine there aren't hardware supply stores that stock metric fasteners. Y'all might not have as much industrial activity as the USA, but there is still a good bit, I'm sure. I worked on Barrow Island for a couple of months late last year, and we would go get what we needed from Chevron's own warehouse on the island. It was pretty well stocked, as it had to be, since all work (maintenance, new builds) done on the island has to be self-supported there. My understanding was they get all their stuff from Australia mainland, probably out of Perth.

I did a quick Google search for "metric fasteners perth australia" and lots of places showed up. Here is just an example:

Yeah it's replaced. The one I had to order from Kia just in case i couldn't find one still hasn't arrived which was the point of the post. I did imagine we had nuts in Australia somewhere :) closer than Perth though which is 2700km away.

Lol... I thought you are still waiting on the nut to replace the missing one. Sounds like you're good to go then. That nut is there to secure the bolt, which is what bears the load. I wouldn't worry about getting a "genuine Kia 10mm nut". :) They probably never bothered to keep in stock something that most folks wouldn't bother to order from Kia parts dept.

I kinda figured you're not in Perth. I just did google it as an example, to see how plentiful are suppliers in a city I'm somewhat familiar with.
