Hi, well i did the front and rear springs and sway bars yesterday and as i was almost finished I lost the bloody nut of the passenger side of the sway bar, it fell in the suspension somewhere... doh! I know it's a 14mm but does anyone know the thread information? as I'm hoping to be able to grab one from the local hardware. thanks,

Also is it a tad bad to drive with it like that? :) ever so calmly and carefully like.

regards
Warren

Try one of those telescoping rods with a magnet on the end. You might get lucky. Poke around where you think it fell.

Thanks, yeah i did, sadly the entire suspension is made of metal so it sticks to everything :) I tried for hours. Exhausted all avenues.

Thanks, yeah was more the thread info I was after. I can't find anywhere local, looks like an ebay job.

HAH! I did the same thing. Didn't realize one was a nut and the other was a screw. Unfortunately I can't help you with the specs of the nut. I just went to the local dealer and got a replacement from them. Think it was like $1 and some change.

Thanks I may give that a try.

I would take off the other identical one from the other side and take another car or get a lift to the hardware store to match it up at the store. I've always found that bringing one with you is the easiest way to find a match.

14mm x 2. 2 is the thread pitch. Probably a grade 5 or so. Nothing fancy about it, go to your local repair shop, they should have some just lying around.

14mm sounds closer to the size socket used to engage the hex head of the nut. Metric fasterners are spec'ed by the thread diameter and pitch. I'd be willing to bet it's closer to M8x1.25, which typically has a 13mm hex head.

M14 fasteners typically have 21mm hex head. That's huge!

Since the torque spec for this nut is up to 47 ft-lbs
It's not an M8

It is an M10, and very probably an M10 x 1.5 flange nut.
But it could be M10 x 1.25. I don't have one to verify with

Or just get it from Kia. Seriously it's less than $2 and then you'll know what you have is exactly what you need.

I suspect part availability, or proximity to the dealer, is the reason for this thread.

Exactly, I've been waiting a year for them to get the recall part, they are kin useless.

USA 350+ million people - Australia 28 million. They don't tend to stock a lot here :) I emailed a few dealers and it has to be ordered in so I thought it may be quicker to ask on here. Hardware stores have nothing like it, all coarse threaded nuts. Thanks for the reply though.

Oops this was a reply for BFGlith :) soz

The wiper blades thread prompted me to call a few. No one around here stocks the refills, just the full blades.

M10 x 1.25 JIS high strength flange nut, looks like it?

Sorry thought you wanted a M14
