Hi. I just bought a 2020 GT2 and I’m in love. This car is so fun to drive! I’m looking to do some mods (hopefully without messing with the warranty) and have already started buying some cosmetic accessories. I’m looking forward to learning more about this car through this forum ;)

Welcome aboard! And thank you for signing up. Congratulations on your new Stinger! What did the Stinger replace for you? I'm glad you found us. :)

Hello and welcome! :D

Good luck with the mods! :D

I was driving a 2015 optima SX T-GDI. It was ok, but once I found the Stinger, I knew this was the right mix of family car (two young kids and a big dog) and the power that mamma (me) in her midlife crisis needed! Lol!!

From one Kia to another eh? :D

What was the ownership like and specifically experience at your dealerships?

Btw... How reliable was your Optima? You drove it for five years as a brand new vehicle or purchased it used?

I like how the Optima looks... I like even more how the new K5 looks... From YouTube videos the Optima is a really solid car with a good amount of aftermarket potential too! :)

Welcome to the hive! Post up some pics of your new ride when you get a chance!
Tons of great info here, and lots of helpful members as well

I bought The Optima in 2018 and never had any issues with it. I didn’t do any mods other than cosmetic. I wasn’t even looking for that car when I bought it -i was looking for a safe type of family car but my friend at the dealership talked me into taking it for a drive and it had hot wheels and it was quick. To be fair though, I was trading in a Prius (there’s a whole story behind that too) so my dog is faster than a Prius. Lol.
I did look at a k5 but the HP was the same so I didn’t see the point in trading.

The dealership was cool but it was a Honda dealer. My sales guy moved there from Kia in Georgia so he had some knowledge of the Stinger. I had been looking at the Stinger for about 6 months before I found the exact one I wanted so it was pretty much just driving it to make sure it was in good shape.

Welcome. May your badge swap go swimmingly: no forks! (that's a late inside joke). :D

Thanks! I’m tempted to use a fork right now. Lol. I probably should have waited for a warmer day...

If you're doing this yourself, warmer is definitely better. But from the many horror stories, I do not recommend a heat gun; a blow dryer is enough if you insist: but a nice hot summer day in the sun is the ideal way to soften the 3M. Floss is even less abrasive than fishing line, but it breaks a lot, but you have a ton of it and either tool is cheap. Just make sure that you lift up on the line; some have inadvertently scored the clear coat by not lifting up as they sawed under the badge. Patience is going to be tried if the 3M is cold.
