Hatch sometimes closes as soon as it finishes opening

I asked about the diff oil on Thursday and was told it would only be changed if the car exhibited a whining noise when in reverse.

Well I would go back & say otherwise mine was tight when cold & it made no noises in forward or reverse & they changed mine.
My understanding is that Kia is changing this as a precautionary measure.

I just picked mine up after it’s 10 000 service. Turns out they had some of the modified diff oil in stock after all so they replaced it. It’s shown on my invoice as a warranty repair so the dealer really shouldn’t be whining (sorry) about replacing diff oil because they’ll simply charge it back to KIA as a warranty repair anyway.

Kick up a stink, Shannon. The squeakiest wheel gets the most oil (sorry again).

Mate it is a TSB they have to replace it, otherwise they will replace the diff later when it wears out. It’s a mandatory preventative TSB. Go back to your dealer and tell him to look at it again, read it carefully.

Thanks for that. I asked if there were any outstanding TSB's and was told they were all up to date. I'll go back next week for a polite chat.

Yes the TSB says "This TSB applies to vehicles equipped with LSD differential" so that should mean all of them not just if you have a whining noise etc

My service manager said the same when mine was done as I have just said above, but on a recent drive day with a group of other Kias, another manager said that it was only for someone that complained. So it sounds like each manager interprets it however they want

If the dealer says otherwise tell them you will ring Kia head office for clarification, bet they replace the oil when you say that. The oil isn’t cheap so that’s why the twit dealer don’t want to replace it . TSB clearly states words like replace, which might, to me that’s mean so put the new oil in to prevent the issue in the first place.
