I know a lot of you guys here have smoked/tinted the center part of the tail lights, but has anyone done the opposite, smoke the red part and leave the center stock? I have a ceramic silver Stinger and I think it would look great, especially on my color, but I’d like to see some pix first just to make sure.

I have only smoked tons of Camaros, Mustangs and ricers.... No seriously there are some forum members who have and looks dope, I would do it if I have the time.

Called around to a few places to get quotes. The guys who are familiar with the Stinger have told me they can’t wrap the tail lights with the film, too difficult. I’m going to head over to a shop that offered a decent price and see what they say in the morning.

You cant wrap the taillights too difficult , I tried numerous times.

The only way is to use the spray tint film.

Actually, you can. You just need practice and patience.

(This guy has many more examples, if you want to try it yourself. Otherwise, a reputable wrap shop can do it for you)

Have you seen the taillights for the stinger? Even a pro will have a hard time.

I am really good at wrapping, but its really hard. I tried numerous times.

The middle part is dawn near impossible to get film in there. The other areas are doable but still a bit complicated.

I know what you mean. I have no experience and I tried doing it myself starting in the middle and just gave up. Those two little vertical pieces on either side are impossible, no way not to get air pockets in there.

I have a question for you though since you have experience. I have some film left and want to do the rear reflectors towards the bottom of the bumper. The problem I think I will run into is that they seems to have raised serial or patent numbers on them. How do you get the tint film to lay down over those numbers?

You need to start wrapping on middle of the reflector and work your way out. I use Vivvid vynil tint and it works great. The trick to get those numbers and not get air bubble's is to heat the tint correctly. Lay it over then heat and watch the tint mold to the raised part. Then work your way around once that part is molded. Worst case if you get a little air bubble pop it with a needle and then apply heat. You will not see it and it won't ruin the tint.

If the wrap is only for the tail lights and not the entire trunk section, then couldn't you remove the whole tail light fixture (like when you take out the tail lights to swap in LED bulbs), wrap it, and put it back in?

He's talking about the center of each main assembly being recessed, not the middle strip between the two assemblies.

Either way, it’s more difficult trying to do it while it’s off the car because you need it to be stationary. It’s much easier to wrap when it’s glued down than when it’s loose.

So I went in for a consult on a clear bra and ceramic and asked the guy about tinting my tail lights. He said it’s doable; however, those two little vertical parts in the center are problematic due to air pockets. We got to talking about it and he recommended I try again and cut around the two vertical parts. Then go back and handle them afterward. They’re under the lip so they won’t be very visible anyway. I don’t think the rest should be very difficult. I bought some more Vvivid tint film so we’ll see how it goes this weekend. I think I’ll try the smaller portions of the tail lights on the right and left first to figure out how to wrap around the concave parts first, then there won’t be any surprises when I get to the concave parts in the middle section. I bought a bunch of the film for some trial and error.

Had my taillights tinted with a smoke wrap, pretty pleased with the result.4A88BBE4-6E68-43EF-B821-9F9F7E283D5B.jpeg111FA33B-76C5-4830-BA19-85C60F4284B2.jpeg19F71FB5-780A-4336-A4CA-233930797D80.jpeg5561A8FA-8DDC-4BDB-AD68-4B8F0D90B109.webp

Thanks, it was done on Monday & I don’t expect any issues as it does not degrade the actual lights as you can see in the photo.
