More recently I’ve been looking for 3d-printing files for the Stinger, and the closest thing I’ve found to a front-mounted intakes has been snorkels, which someone posted here a few years ago, and the file is available on Thingiverse.

That being said, other than that, I haven’t really been able to find anything else for the Stinger. My main question is if anyone has designed and printed front mounted intakes before? But also, if anyone has experience 3d printing in general, and knows the ins-and-outs of 3d design.

I say this because I think it might not be too difficult to redesign the snorkel that’s already available, since all that would really be necessary for a front-mount intakes would be the two adapters, one for the grille side and one for the engine bay side, and those adapters would be the same size as the snorkels, as the snorkels use the same connection.

The snorkel from Thingiverse is a two-piece design, with a base piece and front piece, yet the base would be all that would be needed, and it would have to be essentially sliced in half, and modified to fit the 3” (or bigger) intake tubing. Basically the same design as the old SSR intake, or the new IMR intake.

If anyone has experience with 3d printing, and also is interested in trying to design something like this, so the whole community also has access to it, let me know, I’d help out in any way possible! I’ll post the IMR & SSR Intakes, plus the 3d Printed Snorkel Pictures for reference!

Thank you! I hope everyone is having a beautiful day!

It's been done, I have it on my 2.5t. I'm not sure the maker can go public because he has a manufacturer in the industry doing a mold for mass production.

Well damn! That looks even better than both IMR & SSR’s intakes, and looks much simpler. Do you know if they are also making one for the 3.3T? Also, did they give you that one from your 2.5T for testing purposes, or am I reading it wrong and you made it yourself? Thanks for the response!!

Up here in the Pacific Northwest they call that a Wet Air Intake.

It fits both the 2.5 and 3.3. It's an inside and outside piece. IMR "should" be the ones working this version :) The individual who came up with the design made this for me to test out. It was part of the dyno day results I posted in the past. It was worth somewhere between 7-10 HP over stock.

7-10hp?! From an intake? That’s absolutely crazy! Was the hood closed during the dyno runs? It suprises me that IMR would be working on this since they just released their own front-mount intake, interesting. In your picture earlier, it looks like it’s connected to the OEM airbox, is that right? If so that’s a really interesting design!

It is connected to the OEM intake down to the turbo. The 4" corrugated tube is just a universal piece I got from Summit racing. Yes the hood was down for all the pulls, close to 10 total throughout the day. Only one run in Map3 we lost HP but we didn't let it cool long enough, heat soak. That first photo was progress, attached is a complete.

Very straight-to-the-point design! Nice! Do you have an idea as to when this will be released? As they’d just be selling the adapter correct?

Yes there's an adapter for the inside and outside. I'm not sure on the time line though, sorry.

Oh okay, makes sense now that I’ve looked at it a bit more! And all good, the information that it’s going through development is enough for me! Thank you so much!
