Hard to keep clean?

Does anyone else find keeping the Stinger clean quite a hard task? First it's hard to get it sparkling clean by washing it. Secondly it seems to pick up dirt and dust rapidly. Even areas like door and trunk sills pick up so much dirt and dust!

Compared to the Forte Koup 2014 which is a breeze to wash and it's always clean!

I agree with the sills picking up dust easily. But I don't think it is any worse than other cars I own to keep clean. All depends on where you park them I suppose and what the weather is like. Big car to clean too.

The functioning vents behind each front wheel are a big contributor to the dirt youre seeing along the sides of the car on the doors. The car also has a lot going on when it comes to design so I agree its harder to keep clean with all the lines, vents and seams.

what color do you have , darker colors definitely show the dirt

A high quality wax, sealant or ceramic coat helps a lot with the cleaning process I find, easier to clean. Or maybe that's my perception since I haven't owned a car that I haven't applied some kind of top coat for YEARS now. I don't drive around with a naked car.

The first time I hand washed this car I came into the house exhausted. "Man! That thing has more planes and angles than I can count!" It felt that way. My mini van was a box: this car is a collection of concept surfaces intersecting all over the place. But I got used to it quickly.

Hand washing turned into a breeze once I locked down a machinelike method: same steps, same movements, same tools: approach it like an exercise routine, step one, and proceed to the final step.

As far as getting dirty quicker goes: not particularly. The rear end collects dust from driving a lot faster than the rest of the car. Our roads are fairly clean, so the brake side vents don't deposit a noticeable amount of accumulation; or, I haven't noticed that at least.

It sounds like you're disliking dust accumulation. A California Duster is the tool to keep in the hatch at all times. (I know, AV8R said his duster made his glass oily; but that could be the difference between dusters, because I never see that happen with the duster I use: "Pacific Coast Car Duster"; available through Walmart, but I got mine at O'Reilly's.)

Depends on the color you have and protection you add to the paint.

Darker colors will certainly look dirty after the first day, while lighter color may take a while to look dirty again.
Adding some protection, in the form of a wax or SiO2 spray or any other type of drying aid, after washing the car, will also help in maintaining the clean look and will also help the next time you wash it, as the dirt will come off easier. That is not to mention you will be also protecting the paint from the harsh sun light.

Excessive dust on the door sills and rear bumper is the first thing I noticed. Ceramic coating will make everything so much easier to clean. Follow up with quality products for washing and drying and you really can't go wrong
Bowden's Nanolicious Wash, Fully Slick, Boss Gloss, Big Green Sucker, Drop Bear cloth. A Meguires Duster will remove light dust without damaging paint.

I've clayed and applied a few coats of sealant to the the body. However I'm unable to apply ceramic coating because prep work in the form of machine polishing would be required before the application of the coating to achieve the desired results.

I'm too nervous to use machine polishers around new cars, despite knowing the relatively good safety of the dual action/orbital buffers.

Btw mine is Black and it came pre installed with dealer swirls

I'd be taking it back to dealer and ask to have it corrected then apply ceramic yourself. That sounds like very poor pre delivery.

Mine came complete with some dealer Swirls too, went and had paint correction, ppf and ceramic coating.
After a wash comes up nice and shiny and is easier to stay clean. The back end always picks up the dirt more.
Does show more dirt than my Optima but that car was Silver so not so noticeable.

Get a decent one. Get some polish from chemical guys and pad prep spray. Get one of their color coded hex pads for light polish. Use 5 small dabs of the polish on the pad. Use speed 5-7. Work small sections. With the right pad, polish (and prep... clay before polish), it is foolproof. Just never EVER contaminate your pads or NEW MF towels. Use light to medium pressure. Your fine. Follow up with wash. Then sealant/wax/sio2 hybrid. It’ll be glass.

The body is smooth no doubt. My main reason to machine polish would be to get rid the swirl marks. I have Carpro Essence which is a very good polish, filler & SIO2 gloss. I have applied it by hand but all that does it waste the product.

As for sealant I use Soft99 Fusso which is one of the best, closely rivals ceramic.

This is actually the second car we got from the dealer. The first Micro Blue, we paid to have paint protection from the dealership and the day we went to pick it up the manager informed us it had damage done to the rubber in the sunroof, apparently " a bird had pecked it ".
Then we noticed all these swirl marks and outright scratches. We refused to take that car. It ended up going to a panel beaters to be sorted out, the whole sunroof had to be replaced and it ended up being a Demo.

So we advised we want a " new one ", had to wait about three more weeks and they got another one delivered from interstate.
We instructed them " not to wash " the car, as the car detailer advised us to send it " as is ". When it went to the detailer he showed us somewhere along the line it had been washed, as there were some swirl marks but it was heaps better than the first one.
Due to the fact the car had been in a holding yard for a while, even though they have some wrapping on them, they do still get hosed down now and then and the detailer showed us that it had " calcium deposits " on it which is a by product of the tap water and builds up especially when the car isn't dried off. So she spent over a week at the detailers because it took him four days of correction to get her ready for the paint protection.

Yep probably,I mean what are they doing ? putting crumbs on the roof to entice " birds " ?
