Happy Bathurst Day!

As far as I’m concerned the Camero shouldn’t be allowed to race in the V8s. It’s a outright import car that’s being converted to right hand drive in Australia by HSV. Gee...we may as well bring every American muscle car here, convert it to right hand drive and let it race in our mighty Supercars series. At least the mighty Mustang is made as a right hook car in the states then shipped out to Australia. Plus a stang is a “FORD” but the other bucket of bolts is a “CHEV”. Holden reckons they did a survey and asked their silly dunnydore lovers if they wanted to keep the Commodore name on the new car and the majority voted yes lol. Why would you want to have that name put on a car that’s not made here. What a insult to all the workers that over the years built the commodore in Australia and god it is just so ugly
Mustang is still an outright import, the same as every other new car in this country.

Like to hear from DCB Stinger , he used to build them in the day.

Well that’s what the Holden head shed told the motor magazines before the offical release of the new piece of crap. Even though I bleed blue when it comes to Ford and Holden I reckon the commodore name on the ZB is a insult to all those past workers!
Holden Execs would say anything to talk up a car that nobody wanted or wants, I bleed red have done so all my life this car is an embarrassment, GM/Holden decision makers should hang their collective heads in shame, I will never buy another Holden again.
But let’s also look at Ford not much better from their Execs, they killed off an Aussie Icon in the Falcon, then offer the American made Mustang in its place after both GM & Ford collectively killed local manufacturing because the Govt. of the day said no more taxpayer dollars subsidising your multi billion corporations, so these sooks took their bats & balls back to Detroit, nothing but corporate bastardry.
So what did diehard Fords fans do, ran to the dealers & all bought Mustangs, thanks for killing the Falcon Mr Ford at least Holden fans have left this brand in droves to leave this thing they laughing call a Commodore to rot & wither in dealer lots.
So all cars are now imports & it’s open slather now for our premier motor sport, if not it’s dead & irrelevant.

I agree with u about the Ford and Holden big knobs but u watch all the Holden fans snap up the “chev baged as a Holden” Camaro for the 90 plus grand asking price. At least Ford is a Ford no mater where it is in the world and Ford didn’t stick the Falcon badge on another car. Plus,at least they are decent enough to export the stang to us in RHD. I do miss the commodore/falcon rivalry and smashing V8 dunnydores in my FG F6 lol.

I highly doubt the majority of Commodore buyers will dump $90K on what is essentially a short wheelbase zeta platform Commodore aka Camaro.
Since Holden put the LS1 (5.7) drive train in the Commodore they were essentially Chevs anyway. What GM Detroit should have done when they ceased manufacturing in OZ was to not only retire the Commodore name to the pages of motoring history they should have done the same with the Holden name & renamed all Dealerships “Chevrolet”, most diehard Holden guys I know agree with this & would be more accepting of future offerings.

I agree with u there mate yet I do know a lot of miners that can’t wait for the Camaro...silly miners hey. Anyway if there was one dunnydore driver I’m glad to see win the big race today it Lowndes. He’s a top bloke and he still has his firs race car in his shed.......and it’s a Ford

Yep typical miners, they make the big bucks until the commodity price drops then the Mine Owners put it into care & maintenance or close down altogether, then they are all out of work with a lot of used Camaros to trade in.

If I saw a sign like that anywhere there would be hell to pay. Someone has to do the hard yards,I served my country for 15 years in the Australian Infantry and since 2006 I’ve been a miner. 5 years underground as a longwall operator and now 7 years in the opencut as a operator. When I hear people bagging miners i smile and think about all the people on a normal wage that are crying poor all the time yet have a smoke in their hand, have foxtell, have a beer in their hand, have a house they shouldn’t have bought in the first place and have too many kids to feed.........well hello!

Thanks mate,he was my best mate and I will miss him so much. He had a good innings(turned 85 just over a month age). He was bo rn on his family farm and only sold it and retired 15 years ago but being a born and bred farmer he always had to be doing something and could never sit still. He never drank, never smoked and his health only wavered 7 years ago. We can all only hope we can live as full and happy life as him. He’s in good company up there now,he might catch up with Burt Reynolds and old matey from Kindswood country that just died(aged 85 as well).
